Poll - Coolest-Named Opponent - Round 26
« on: March 07, 2013, 09:15:25 PM »
St. John's may not be towards the bottom of the Big East standings, but they definitely are the champs when it comes to interesting names.

Honorable mention goes to team member David Lipscomb, likely the only D1 player whose shares his name with a D1 school.

Previous winners:

Onochie Ochie, Southeast Louisiana
God Shammgod, Providence
Fuquan Edwin, Seton Hall
Talib Zanna, Pittsburgh
Moses Ayegba, Georgetown
Worrel  Clahar, DePaul
Mangok Mathiang, Louisville
Jawanza Poland, USF
Achraf Yacoubou, Villanova
Rakeem Christmas, Syracuse
Mike Broghammer, Notre Dame
Kadeem Jack, Rutgers
Have some patience, FFS.

Couldn't vote for the suspended Pointer or the red shirted Achiuwa, so I went with the Frenchman.

Surely, there is a D1 player with the last name "Davidson" right?

Or more likely "Butler".

Having an assistant coach winner for Providence has dissolved all boundaries for me.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I'm talking first AND last name -

http://www.lipscomb.edu/who-we-are

They have apparently shortened their name to Lipscomb University from David Lipscomb University in the last couple of years - although ESPN.com (and most native Nashvillians) still refers to the school as David Lipscomb.

To be fair, I did not try to find out if there are any D1 players named George Mason or Austin Peay.

There was Paul Quinn College - who I think we played a few years back?

Paul Quinn (RIP) was a bartender (owner?) at Hegarty's.

That's racist!!!!!

Jesse Jackson needs to lead a protest against the obviously bigoted producers of this clip.
