4 Plays summarize yesterday's game.   1.  Gardner shoots his two worst FT's of the year in a 2 pt game.   2.   MU sets up a perfect alley oop, only to watch Jamil hit a slick spot on his plant step.   3.   Rising majestically, our best 3 pt shooter decides to forego a wide open 3 and hit Otule in the side of the head with a pass.    If those 3 plays go MU's way, who knows how the game turns out.    The 4th play, to me is more revealing of MU's flaws this year.    With under a minute to go, Jamil, Vander, and Todd all pass up open-ish 3's, hoping for a better shot.   Junior shoots (and makes) the 3.    In the larger context, that shows that our 3 best shooters all chose to not seize the moment, to not put the team on their back.  Junior, for all his flaws, accepted responsibility.

Hard not to include Junior's pass to the open spectator in section 22, or at least one of Vander's lazy passes out on top that led to a breakaway layup.
Good night, NBA speculation.

Face it, the entire MU entourage didn't have an answer for Villanova's trapping defense. That's what happens when the team lacks overall quickness and your point guard has several warts. Who Marquette draws in the Tourney is critical to any potential run therein.

Amen, amen, to both of my brothers above.  What gives?  Are we missing some JC grit? A game like that has got to be so disappointing to any player who puts so much of himself into preparing/practicing year round with teammates and then to fall apart as the season comes to a climax.  But, "the season ain't over til it's over," so buckle on your rally hats, Warriors!

It's not "grit."  It's speed.

Junior does not do well when he is matched up against speedy backcourts.

JTBMU7

I said it right when jamil doinked that ball off otule's head in what could have been a three or kept it a one possession game. He then proceeds to foul a guy on the three and the game was pretty much over from there. It was back and forth up to that pt and that's where it turned. Buzz has to frustrated at the lack of consistent killer instinct on most of the upper classmen this season.

Obviously, Junior cannot dribble with his left hand, and just as obviously he is laterally challenged.

Frankly, his limits, of which the entire Big East is aware, have now cost the Warriors two big games. Coach Williams needs to face this reality, or the season is going to end sooner, rather than later.

Wilson, for his limits, plays better defense, does not end Warrior runs, and does add to the opposing teams momentum.

I will simplify it even more....MU averages 14 TO's a game...they turned it over 19 times. Take away those 5 "extra" TO's, and score on even 2 of them(which would have been below their 45% shooting % yesterday), and Davante makes his two FT's, they are walking out of there with a "W".

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

I want to thank JC for what will be a wonderful MU career, but Duane Wilson will be a relief to see as a scoring and passing PG.

Don't feel bad - we've still got Jamil to defend against 3's.

Don't set yourself up for unrealistic expectations.
