Yeah, makes sense to hate the guy that resurrected our program, got MU to a final four, and recruited some of the best players in history.

He left.  We got a great coach to replace him.  I think it is time people got over it.

And now we compete with him for recruits.  He coaches at the traditional power in the Midwest.  Plus, if he flames out at IU, that means Buzz will have watched Crean AND Billy Clyde bite the big one at two traditional powers.  I have to believe that would make him think LONG and hard about leaving a good thing at MU.  Thanks for what you did for us Tommy, but now your failure is a good thing for MU, and that's all I care about.

Regarding the title of this thread, I hate UW more - but was glad to see the outcome of tonight's game.

Tums Festival

Now I can go back to hating Bucky again.

Not a big Tom Crean fan for the classless way he left Marquette. Otherwise could care less about Indiana.

Wisconsin natives care much, much more about the Marquette - Wisconsin rivalry than the rest of us.

Ah, the Crean tradition of getting the team to peak in the non-conference continues.

Edit, fun fact from ESPN...

Wisconsin has won 11 straight games vs Indiana, tied for the 2nd-longest win streak all-time by an opponent vs Indiana.

Longest Win Streak by Opponent vs Indiana - All-Time

1908-14    Purdue    12
2008-13    Wisconsin    11*
1912-19    Wisconsin    11
1929-35    Purdue    9
1901-05    Purdue    9

Who do I hate more? Well, Indiana isn't our rival, isn't in our state, recruits very few of the same athletes and has no history with Marquette except for a coach who did a great job helping restore the MU basketball brand.

Like many here, I didn't especially like the way Crean left MU. But it's hard for me to blame him for leaving and I'm grateful that he hired the guy who eventually replaced him -- a guy I consider a better coach.

So I've got absolutely nothing against Indiana.

Wisconsin is a whole 'nother story. Hate 'em. Hate ND even more.

Wisky will forever stink.

But there is a tip of my hat to whenever they polish off a top 25 team and/or IU, especially when we have a W on them from a previous game.

BTW...

From Hoosier Scoop:

"If you've ever seen the Dasani water bottle Tom Crean has on the sideline during games, you've noticed that the liquid in it is not the color of water.
It's orange.
A caller on Crean's radio show asked him about it on Monday night, and Crean confirmed that he is, in fact, putting another product in a Dasani bottle.
"I don't drink, so it's not Jack Daniels," Crean said. "It's actually a product called 'Liftoff.' It's got an energy part to it. There's no sugar in it. I've been drinking it the last couple of years, sometimes during the day but usually during the games. No offense to Coke, I love Coke products, (it should be noted here that Indiana has a deal with Coke) but I try to stay off those things during the games because I'd go through about eight Diet Cokes and I don't want to do that."
According to its home page, Liftoff is actually a tablet you combine with water. It claims to have zero sugar and zero calories, though it does contain 75 mg of caffeine. It also claims to "help fight mental and physical fatigue," "enhance focus and concentration" and "improve short term memory."
So just in case you were wondering how any man could have that much energy, well, he does have some help."

Tough call. IU has broken my heart a couple of times and UW is UW. Probably have to go with UW because play them every year and recruiting battles.

This exactly.

Except I hate UW more than ND. Not by much, but a little more because everyone I seem to be surrounded by is a Bucky fan.

I grew up in Indiana as a Purdue fan so I have hated IU since as long as I can remember. Crean going to IU just gave me one more reason to hat them. So it doesn't matter who they play I will never in my life root for IU that 6-20 something season they had a couple years ago made me so happy.

Hards Alumni

Hate them equally.  We play UW so I will cheer for them to improve our resume for tourney time.  That said, I make fun of my Bucky fan friends at every opportunity.

bilsu

I want Crean to lose more than I want UW to lose.

I hate Wisconsin more than IU but I hate Crean WAY more than I hate Wisconsin

Exactly. I've moved on from Crean leaving and I'm largely indifferent to Indiana.

But I will still hate IU long afer Crean is gone. IU/Purdue rivalry is huge, just doesn't get the national attention of Duke/UNC. Plus Keady and Knight being gone made it not as lively and the sideline chairs were a little safer.

Exactly.  Not a fan of either, but UW winning these games is a boost for us.  I was pulling for Bucky big time.

Fun fact: It's been almost 5 years since Crean left Marquette to take a better job and Marquette hired a better coach.

Advice: MOVE ON!!!!!

I don't hate either one.  I'm indifferent to both.  I like Marquette.

I'm stunned Wisconsin won at Indiana. I don't hate Bucky like some on this board, but IMO they are a NIT team.

I respectfully disagree. Outside of Virginia, all of our losses are to strong teams (Florida, Creighton, MU all currently ranked.)

At least he could beat Wisconsin/Bo Ryan at Marquette.

Also, Marquette has been the more successful program since Crean has left for IIII.  Not so sure it won't stay that way until Buzz leaves Marquette and/or Crean leaves IU.  Sure, IU has more hype this year, but why?  They made it to the Sweet 16 last year, so let's rank them...first?  That makes a lot of sense... ::)  While they are a good team, they are also incredibly overrated.
