The C7 movement is philosophical, not financial.

Every conference move is about money.

Well then, it looks like the C7 won't be moving then.... everyone else will.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Bad feeling - Yes.  But I think the decision to move is made, with or without Georgetown.  Larry seems to be driving the bus and the issue is what exit to take and who gets on the bus.  But the bus is leaving, unless it is not true that 6 of the 7 non-football schools can vote to leave without a penalty, etc.

We sure as heck better be able to keep our basketball NCAA units and our portion of the buy outs that are currently due... if not, there should be a lawsuit.

Georgetown is a must for this conference IMO. They are the wild card and we need to make sure they part of this long term.

See...no they aren't.  Georgetown is either going to leave with MU or go to the ACC.  If they go to the ACC, we are still better off leaving the craptastic future Big East.

I wish this board would stop being a bunch of chicken littles and worrying about everything.  Marquette and its basketball program are going to be in a fine place...not as good as "old Big East," but a lot better than "new Big East."

This.

And as we speak LW is fielding calls from many schools asking him to personally lead them out of the wilderness.  Creighton, Xavier, Butler, SLU, Dayton, Gonzaga, VCU...

All of this will be decided by a small group of people for the sole purpose of benefiting the C7 in the long term and those that are asked to join us will exclaim 'Thank you, God!' just like the kid in Animal House.  Book it.

+1,000,000,000,000  Making up things to get worried about gets really old.

GOO

If we had a crystal ball and if we knew that Memphis, Temple, UConn, Cinci and the basketball schools wouldl all be together for the next 10 to 15 years, I would want to stay in the Big East.

But, we all know that UConn is probably going to get an invite within the next couple of years, then Cinci.  So then the only real marquee team left is Memphis.  So, there is no choice but to move on... UConn and Cinci and Memphis are the reasons to stay but two of those will be gone soon the way this realignment stuff happens.

No choice, with or without Georgetown.  I think that is Larry's comment about being the bigger fish/dog... It sure would be nice to have Georgetown, but either-way, this is the time.  Risky, yes... but if we can get a solid TV deal NOW, then this is the time.

Ever since the football powers started this conference arms race, the ultimate endgame for the MU's of the world has been a basketball-only conference.    This insane game of musical chairs leaves no other conclusion.   The C7 have finally made official what many here have been hoping for and predicting for the last couple of years.    BUT THIS SH^% AIN'T GONNA GET DONE IN A DAY!!!!!     This is a big, bold step and it is going to take time.    There are going to be pauses, stumbles, and glitches.   It's not gonna be easy and it's not gonna be pretty.      Right now, kenosha, you are watching the sausage get made.      Relax.

Absolutely.

Yes.  This.  Apparently today is the day when all of the concern-trollers crawl out from their doom bunkers, to express how concerned, fearful, and full of doom they are, and we all have to feel that way, too.

Doom is just around the corner! ... until it isn't.  Repeatedly.  Over and over and over.

Since Chapman already gave his "+1,000,000,000,000" to your second paragraph of your post, I figured I'd show some love for the first paragraph.

Amen, brother.  I am so happy that Marquette and the rest of the C7 are jumping off the sinking ship.  With or without Georgetown, they will be in a much better place.  I honestly think that this is the best thing that could happen to Marquette's program and I've been hoping for this for a long time.

Father Pilarz needs to cash in all of his Georgetown chits.

Or call the Head Jesuit in Rome and make Georgetown do what it should do.

Thank God we're all sticking together on this!

I wish this board would stop being a bunch of chicken littles and worrying about everything.  Marquette and its basketball program are going to be in a fine place...not as good as "old Big East," but a lot better than "new Big East."

With Virginia in the ACC, the odds are 0.00% GU goes to the ACC.  Think BC/UConn.  Virginia has the DC TV market for the ACC.  They are not sharing it. Period, discussion over.

If Virginia leaves the ACC then the odds of GU going to the ACC rise to slightly above 0%.  The ACC would look to replace them with a football school.  The ACC already has one non-football school (ND) and they agreed to play five ACC teams a year in football.  Football drives the Bus and GU does not have ACC caliber football so they lose.

Regarding the chicken littles, if you go through life assuming everything prediction on this board is wrong, you will look like Nostradamus.  So, feel good some are worried about this move.
