Meet freshman Steve Taylor Jr.

Two early impressions:

Really excited about new faces Taylor and Lockett.  Seems like they are going to impact players right away.

Right, maybe I am being nit picky, but I dont remember seeing Taylor as a McDs AA....

He was very likely an AA nominee.

Yea, I'm pretty sure that he was.

I'm hoping he can be a solid guy off the bench. If he can provide us some solid minutes as a defender and rebounding, that would go a long way for us.

Steve is a great addition to Marquette and a fine addition to the program.

Still, there is a pretty large difference between being a nominee and an actual All-American...

Agreed. I thought he might make the team as the game was in Chicago and he was the #1 player in the state, but no hometown love.

When I saw him play in the high school post-season last year, I thought he looked like he would be a great college player (he really held 6'11 Jahlil Okafor in check in the post), but didn't seem to have that next level NBA potential. Seems to me like a rich man's Juan Anderson (based on Juan's performance last season).

Don't understand this quote. Juan was not only a true freshman, but suffered an injury that kept him sidelined for quite a while last year. Very few true freshman look all that hot. I'm pumped about Juan's future...he's looked much improved already. A lot of kids make a pretty noticeable jump in that 2nd year. Hopefully Juan does and get's meaningful minutes this season.

That's why I added the parenthetical. I thought Juan had a high ceiling when he came to MU, but he didn't really show anything more than an energetic body and rebounding last year. I think ST can be an energetic rebounder and defender in college, but I don't think he can be a great scoring forward. Hence, I think he can be a rich man's version of what Juan was last year (I'm still hoping Juan can catch up to the speed of the college game).

I almost think that Taylor can have more of an impact in his college career than his High School career. When you play with guys like Jabari Parker, Kendrick Nunn and Jaylen Tate the ball is spread out quite a bit. If Steve develops he will be a big time player by his Jr. year.
