I think last spring Stephen's was still thinking Crean was going to be shown the door at Indiana. Now barring an NCAA violation Crean will be at Indiana for a very long-time, so Stephens can now give up on coaching at his dream school.

Pretty sure he's referring to Spring 2012, because that's when the Illinois job was open. Crean's return to the Sweet 16 and monster recruiting classes had already solidified he likely wouldn't be leaving Indiana before Stevens was offered the UI job.

Yep.  Guy can coach.  Just could not attract recruits at the BCS level, at least not enough of them.
