2012 Reese's College All-Star Game

East wins, 103-99.

Recap brought to you by Frank Burlison:

One sweet all-star game
Written on March 30, 2012 by Frank Burlison
NEW ORLEANS – Jae Crowder of Marquette put his Big East Player of the Year skills on display Friday afternoon in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

He scored 25 points (nine of 16 from the field) to go with five rebounds, three assists, three steals and no turnovers to help the East to a 103-99 victory over the West in the NABC Reese's College All-Star Game.

And if product placement/mention is a story pays dividends these days, you can guess what I hope to see parked in front of my house when I return to glorious Laguna Niguel Tuesday evening . . .

Also playing well down the stretch for the East was Iona point guard Scott Machado, who had 11 points and eight assists.

Crowder was tabbed the MVP for the East with Missouri's Ricardo Ratliffe taking West honors with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Wendell McKines of New Mexico State had 15 points and a game-high 18 rebounds.

Casper Ware of Long Beach State had seven assists and 10 points but hit just four of 17 from the field (missing all seven attempts from behind the arc) for the West.

God, I'm going to miss him.

Me too.

When Lazar left, Jimmy was there.

When Jimmy left, Jae was there.

When Jae leaves, Jamil will be there.

But his game is not the same as the other three. It's more finesse while Lazar, Jimmy and Jae did yeoman's work.

IIRC, we were in the running for Ratliffe, too.   Also a JUCO, again IIRC.   So if my memory is accurate, both MVP's of this showcase game are former JUCO's.    Somewhere, chico squirms.

You recall correctly on all accounts, right down to the squirm.

I honestly think Todd Mayo is going to be our next player in the draft. He will be huge by his junior year, and maybe even next year.

Can't help but sounding like a jerk, but I'm gonna say it anyway ...

If only Jae had done this against Florida!

You've got a great first or last line for a haiku there.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

When mr.MUskie said "God, I'm going to miss him", I almost replied, I already did during the Florida game, BUT, I was far too classy to say that.

I'm probably wrong, but I thought I heard the game was going to be televised today.....can anyone confirm or deny it??  Thanks

At this point, does he even need to go to Portsmouth?

Right now Jimmy needs to be absolutely bending Tibbs ear.  "I need my runnin' mate boss."  Jae would be a huge hit here in Chicago.  And frankly, MU would certainly benefit from a recruiting standpoint.

I'm sure Thibs would ignore him and then likely cut his playing time. No rookies has Thibs ear.

100%.

Crowder will need all the help he can get.

Yes, I'm sure a rookie in the league who plays very little is telling his coach who to draft much less bending his ear. (For clarity sake, I love Jimmy and I think he will be a solid role player in the NBA.)

Agreed, this is unlikely.  Now he would mention it to Derrick Rose.   ;)
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

I'm certain that Tibbs would be upset because he hates to have his time wasted, and since he's not the guy who decides who the Bulls draft, Butler would be wasting his time and showing a lack of understanding of the organization.
