The problem I see with McKay is that he looks like a non-qualifier out of high school, unless I am missing the point of "academics forced the JUCO route."  This means he wouldn't be available until 2013, assuming he graduates with his associates degree.

Edit:  Looked around on a couple sites...pretty sure he's a 2013.

That was the question I had yesterday.  It could go one of two ways.  First that he did not have the academics to qualify and went JUCO.  But the article was discussing it in relation to JUCO or Prep School.  The other explanation is that he graduated and did not qualify for Prep School.  Without offers, he was forced to go JUCO.

That is why I asked the question yesterday as to why he went Prep.  Still unclear.

Nolan should go to a JC and we can add him to the 2014 class with Looney w/2 years eligibility

I think it is pretty clear.  I think he was originally a 2011, who if he could have done the prep school thing, would have been a 2012.  But he went JUCO and is now a 2013 with two years left.

Why don't we just take him, seems like he wants to be here.

Probably so as that is the logical, but the article is not so clear as you state.  You can go prep with academic issues.  That is a reason many do.  You cannot go prep if you graduate.  They tied the lack of scholarship offers to his wanting to go Prep, not academic.  Without an offer and having graduated, his only option would be JUCO - that is a potential "academic" reason.  So, I think there is still a question - it may just be a sloppily written comment.
