5 of the top 13 games are Pitsburgh and Syracuse.  They are leaving the BE.  Will this hurt our ablity to get crowds over 19,000?  Other than Georgetown, do we have to wait for Depaul to get interesting to see more crowds over 19,000?  Will Louisville, Cincy, or ND ever get a crowd over 19,000 (they have not so far)?

It's all about timing. The last Saturday game of the season and National Marquette Day are typically the biggest draws because those are games when a lot of alums from around the country make an annual trip to Milwaukee to catch a game.

1. 19,144    Syracuse      March 7, 2009       L 86-79 (last Sat home game)
2. 19,091    Uconn          February 25, 2009  L 93-82  (vs #2)
3. 19,087    Georgetown  March 3, 2012       W 86-69 (last Sat home game)
4. 19,085    Georgetown  March 1, 2008       L 70-68 (last Sat home game/Nat'l MU Day)
5. 19,074    Wisconsin     December 11, 2010 L 69-64 ("local" rival)
6. 19,041    Georgetown  January 31, 2009   W 94-82 (Nat'l MU Day)
7. 19,037    Depaul         January 26, 2008    W 79-71 ("local" rival)
8. 19,032    Syracuse      January 29, 2011   W 76-70 (Nat'l MU Day)
9. 19,021    Pittsburgh    March 3, 2007        W 75-71 (last Sat home game/Nat'l MU Day))
10. 19,020    Wisconsin       December 9, 2006  L 70-66 ("local" rival)
11. 19,011    Pittsburgh      February 15, 2008  W 72-54 (vs #24)
12. 19,007    Pittsburgh      February 18, 2006  W 84-82 (vs #9)
13. 18,949  DePaul           January 24, 2009    W 91-82 ("local" rival)

WI inferiority Complexes

This list right here shows why the attendance is down a little this year.

Bottom line the people that want to talk about bad support and crowds etc, need only look at these couple facts and way our attendance was down a few hundred people on avergae.

I have not read one complaint on this board about the number of tickets sold or announced attendance.  MU does very well in that regard.  It's the number of people who actually show up (impossible to track, apparently) that fosters all complaints.

The attendance for the Cincy game was 18,815 and the Georgetown game was 19,087.  The BC was a heck of a lot louder on Saturday for only having 272 more fans there.

Of this list we only played Gergetown and Pittsburgh at home.  georgetwon was the highest attended win in program history, so that more than carried its weight.  Pisttsburgh entered the game with no conference wins amid a trainwreck season.  nevertheless there were the only two games from this list.  Additonaly, while not on the list Notre Dame is always a very big drawtoo, and we did not get them at home either.
Bottom line the people that want to talk about bad support and crowds etc, need only look at these couple facts and way our attendance was down a few hundred people on avergae.  In fact one could probably quite easily make the reach that given the season we are having if we had Uconn, Wisky, Syracuse, etc. at home that the numbers would be huge!

Even though Pitt was early in the BE season, and in the middle of collapsing, we still had 18,404 at the game.

If we do well this post season, and have ND, Depaul, Uconn, Cuse (if still in the BE), Georgetown and Wisc at home (and on a Saturday!) we could break the 2009 attendance record of 16,200/game.

Lots of ifs here but the schedule does suggest these are our homes games next year.

No, we didn't.  We sold 18.404 tickets.  The BC was dead that game.

Is there anyone else out there that thought the crowd could have been a little more consistent on Saturday?   Don't get me wrong I thought it was great it just seems like it easily could have been better.  Someone has to come up with more for the down times, it can be so quiet at times.

NOT TRY TO TURN THIS INTO A CREAN v. BUZZ thread, but it's interesting that some here talk about Tom and "promoting the record crowds" but the top 3 attended games (and 5 of the top 6) have been in the Buzz era.

Those first couple of games have more to do with the fact that the 08-09 team was one of the best squads MU has had in the last 25 years and people recognized it. Not to mention, there was quite a rallying point to that season since it was the first one after Crean left for Indiana.

No shock the casual fan lined up those days.

The finsh to this year will affect season tickets...what will really effect how those "big" games are attended next year is how we are performing 2-4 weeks before those games are played.
Season ticket sales dont get u to 19k... Hype n success in the weeks leading up to the games does
