You are giving him way too much credit for "rebuilding the program from absolutely nothing"  After all Its Indiana, Its Indiana.  They have a huge recruiting base, name recognition and are top 5 or better program of all time, not exactly "absloutely nothing".  Top recruits are going to come there no matter who the coach is. An arguement can be made that he should have turned it around sooner. By the way, I do not think IU fans think a boder line ranked team is turning it around. We will see if crean can get them to the next level.

By the way, chicos... err  Hoopaloop.  why do you have this incessant need to jump in and defend everything crean and Indiana. It is annoying as hell.

Let's just call him HoopaChic or ChicoHoop.

Works for me.  We'll call you HairyRing or Cockring.   :P

It's equally annoying as hell calling someone a username they are not.  You know what else is annoying, looking at your posts and how most of them you attack the person.  The ratio of your posts that attack people is annoying.

And calling someone "cock ring" is not attacking,   classy.

I very rarely attack individuals, I do call out posts that are over the top or that I disagree with.

For future reference, according to Rivals/Yahoo and as of 2/21, IU's RPI rating is (.6201) which is good for 18th overall (SOS 26).

Let's see how their game tonight affects their RPI tomorrow.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I understand that a number of people on this board to not like him.  I have purposely stayed out of the chatter on that issue.  Also, I do not pretend that I know him well, but I have never had any personal reason to dislike him.  That is, I have talked to him on two occasions -- the first at Dwyane Wade's first pro game against the Pacers in Indianapolis [where he introduced me to his wife and children] and last summer after my son attended his basketball camp in Bloomington [where we discussed, among other things. the fact that I graduated from both schools where he has been a head coach and that I thought he did/was doing a good job at both locations].  In each case, he was friendly and engaging.

That is just my limited experience with him.  I understand that some of the people on this board feel differently, so I assume their experience with him has been different.

This was certainly not the case during the Mike Davis years nor the first couple of years under Crean.  During those times, the top Indiana kids were leaving the State or, cold shudder, going to Purdue.   ;D

Anyone who expected quicker progress than this was, in my opinion, unrealistic.  When Crean was hired, I expected that the arc of progression would be that they would be an NIT level team by last year, and the NCAAs this year.  And you are right, most IU fans expect more progress and growth in the program, especially now that Crean has re-established in-state recruiting.

I love this.  When I made my post -- especially after I changed my avatar from the cover of the movie from which my board name was derived -- I wondered if anyone would make this claim.  It is extremely funny to me for several reasons including the fact that I have been a member of this board since October 26, 2006, and the only things I was ever able to determine that I had in common with Chicos was that we attended the same colleges at different times and do not consider Tom Crean to be the devil.

Heaven forbid that someone would disagree with another poster on a message board.  If disagreement is not the basis for a personal attack, I do not know what is.  Take a stand hairyworthen -- disagreement must be stopped as nothing good has ever come of it!   ::)

First of all my chicos reference was meant for hoopaloop not you.

You took my comment out of context,  I was accused of making attacks on people.  I responded that I rarely attack people, but do call out the posts. Big deal, my point excatly.  Did you even read the chain of posts that you quoted? Your remarks above don't make any sense.

a disagreement is the basis for a personal attack?  Really?  You can't disagree with someone with out attacking them on a personal level? I feel for you or any spouse you may have.

Dang it.  This site needs a newsletter or something, so I can keep up to date on the customs and/or mores.   <--- a word that I do not believe I have used since the sociology courses I took at Marquette.

I thought it was agreed that teal was no longer necessary for obvious sarcasm.  If that is not the case, please put on teal tinted glasses and re-read my posts.

In the meantime, stop feeling my spouse.  ;D

There is clearly an icon there with a tongue sticking out.  It was a joke.  Now you're just playing games.  If you couldn't tell that was a joke with the  :P then there is little I can do for you.

You should go review your own posts.  You attack people all the time.  Take a look.  Or, at the very least, you are consistently referencing the poster not the content.  Do you add anything of substance other than the play by play about the poster?  In my view, much of your participation is commentary on the messenger.  Feel free to disagree

I'm quite certain IU fans have gone through this before with Bobby Knight and Kelvin Sampson.   :P  With Coach Knight you either loved him or despised him.  MU fans have gone through it with Kevin O'Neill and to a lesser extent Mike Deane.  It happens.  Crean isn't out there killing babies.  He is graduating kids, kicked out the bad eggs (that should be a good thing), demands certain character traits.  My hunch is that most IU fans really like the guy.  You don't.  You're not an IU fan, so it doesn't much matter.

Thanks, I do disagree

Putting a silly icon next to a derogatory name doesn't make it ok.

People post for different reasons and post different topics/commentary.  I bet if we read through your posts most would be of a certain nature. I post all different types of things, some weak attempts at humor others in response to posts or posters that agitate me. Mostly I enjoy just reading the posts and not replying, therefore when I do post it is something that I feel strongly about and as such it may come across derogatory.  I try not to take it to a personal level.

Nothing wrong with that. You post your topics and replys and I will post mine. It is a little creepy that  you are so obsessed with my postings that you attach a link to them. Very chicoish.

Let's see how their game tonight affects their RPI tomorrow.

So even with a win last night, IU's RPI dropped minimally:

RPI following NC Central win: .6181 (19th), SOS 30.

Still, I can't see the benefit of late-season cupcakes.

They said last night the game was moved because the Big Ten game IU back to back byes meaning they would play only 2 games in two weeks.  The game was originally scheduled for December and IU asked them to move it so the team would have a game and not so much time off.  That's per ESPN

COACH NORMAN DALE.  Welcome back.  Another poster that has been gone for far too long.  Be careful, since you went to IU and MU you will be targeted.

Thanks for the greeting, and I have my big boy pants on so I can take the slings and arrows that come with the target I wear!  And I will try to not stay away for so long -- my blistering pace of 0.088 posts per day is not going to maintain itself.   :D

Actually, my "Serenity Now" approach to the Crean/IU bashing finally crashed.  For people to spend time on this Marquette board taking joy in IU losses and/or suggest that the now far less frequent bumps in the road to recovery indicate that the program under Crean is not progressing (or as one person put it, not progressing fast enough) just seems silly to me.  Also, the previous claims [during my period of silence] that his job is -- or has ever been -- in jeopardy are simply wrong.

Which year did Crean schedule some ridiculously obscure OOC game right near the end of February/early March because there was a gap in the schedule?    I'm not a Crean hater, but I am thinking his guys need a break, based on the historical tendency of Crean teams to peak in December.

I think it was 08 against Florida Gulf Coast.  We also beat the "curse" of the baby blue jersey's that day.
