Zooming into the stateline area, there are a lot more Illinois admissions than Wisconsin.

mu_hilltopper

They should flip the pin color to red if rejected.. so the whole world can know their disgrace, eh.

DJO's Pump Fake

Aren't these just the cities, rather than the individual admissions?

Might be misleading as I doubt Wonder Lake, IL sent more than one person while Waukesha probably sent 20-30 students.

Need to do a better job recruiting southern Utah.

That's kind of cool.

I was surprised that there were none in Guam.  It's probably just "USA," but if they've got Puerto Rico marked...

Edited to add:  I didn't notice that they included Canada and Mexico...so obviously not just USA.

Edited again to add:  I see that they've got the international ones in there now...still no Guam...

What do Mexicans have against us?  At least Canada sends a few our way.

The pin appears to be the mid-point of the zip code, not the exact address.  Mouse over the pin and it will tell you if the pin is for more than 1 applicant

Those Canadians could be lacrosse players, I know there are already a few on the team this year.
Bring back FFP!!!

Nah!  The canadians are coming for the better weather

No Hawaiians?  Maybe the Maui invite appearance next year will help recruiting efforts in our 50th state.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Wow.. nice to see that my little town down here in Texas where nobody has even heard of Marquette (or worse albeit still rare response of "that's in Michigan, right?") I might actually be getting one (1) co-alum in a few years.

Thought I saw two from hawaii

It appears to be a work in progress.  They're adding more all the time.  Hawaii is now included.  So is Guam.  And so is my little home town in the Colorado Rockies.

I was really blown away with the number of east coast applicants and acceptances. I graduated in 07, and I was one if the very few east coast students.  Anyone at Marquette now see a significant change in the number of east coasters?

I'm from CT so I always notice East Coasters. We went around in one of my classes at the beginning of the semester saying where we were from, etc, and at least a quarter of the students were from CT, NY, NJ, of MA. I don't remember it being that way when I was a freshman (now a senior)

This map marks confirmed admission decision letter arrivals of 2012 applicants.

Not to split hairs, but this map does not represent the locations of all admitted students.  It represents people who subscribe to the "Marquette Class of 2016" Facebook page who have posted that they have received an acceptance letter and mentions their hometown.  Someone in admissions is manually updating this list as posts are made.

And even if it did include all accepted students, you can't accurately conclude from this map how many students are being accepted from particular areas.  There isn't  one pushpin for each acceptance.  Milwaukee, for example, only has two pins in it.

It's still cool, though!
Have some patience, FFS.

With those Chinese recruits our ping pong team should be ranked number 1.
