So being intrigued by the parity so far in this early Big East season, I compiled the wins/losses and point differential for each Big East team this year and found the following...

• Louisville won @ St. Johns by 15 (their only win in the BEast thus far) and Providence lost @ St. Johns by 24. Providence then beats Louisville by 31!

• Seton Hall is 4-1 and their wins in the BEast come by an average of over 17 points while their one loss to Cuse was by 26.

•Syracuse has won four of their five games by an average of 18 points, MU can hang their hat on a 7-point loss @ the Carrier Dome.

• UCONN was swept in Jersey (SHU and Rutgers) by an average of 11.5 points.

• Cincy would be undefeated if they didn't lose to St. Johns at home. St. Johns has lost every other game by an average of 16 points.

• West Virginia has a love/hate relationship with the Garden State. They won @ Rutgers by 21 and lost @ Seton Hall by 19.

• Providence has lost four games by an average of 14 points and then beat Louisville by 31 (it bears repeating). WTF.

• PITT has lost to DePaul (I just vomited a little bit) and Rutgers @ home. Their other loses are to Cincy at home and @ Notre Dame. Anyone think they would be 0-4 after those games? It's going to get worse.

• DePaul has lost every game, other than the +3 win against PITT, by over 18 points.

• Despite Nova's issues this year, I didn't expect South Florida to beat them by 17 in Philly.

I was just going to post the wins/losses of every team with point differential and update it throughout the season if there was any interest on the board. Feedback?

Some of the blowout wins are what is interesting to me.  It would seem that about a fourth into the Big East season we have had an unsual amount of blowout wins thus far.

Yes there will always be blowouts in conference.  Syracuse playing a DePaul at home would be one you would expect.  However, we have had quite a number of very unexpected blowouts.

Strange season indeed.

Holy cow! Was that ever interesting. Thank you very much. It looks likes it is going to one of those years!

Very interesting... The one team so far that has followed conventional wisdom or at least past results has been MU.

If we count divergent halves, MU has been the "Three Faces of Eve" as well...if MU can stay consistent, top 4...I think that is where MU misses Otule most, but the team is adjusting to their new roles. Really need the senior leaders to bring that steady experience.

Great post. Fascinating to see just how crazy the big east has been so far.

Windy, that's agreat post that basically summarizes the uncertainties that apply to the BE this year. I'm glad I stopped betting.

for the record; and I don't mean to be the grammar police, but it is:

Parity.

I dunno. Some of those results are pretty funny. Maybe it's a parody of parity.

You're absolutely right. Oops. Missed that one.

A parody regarding the spelling of parity...it's a pun!  Well done, English majors.  Kudos!
