I'm not a fan of moral victories...nor do I believe in them, a loss is a loss no matter how you look at it. That said, it was refreshing to see this team go out at the half and not give up. It's shown to them that if they play a FULL 40, they can beat anyone on any night. Another positive I took from this...our mini gauntlet is over. There are still some tests out there to deal with and this team can't afford to sleep on anyone, but if this team can build off of the 2nd half tonight, the rest of the season will be a lot better.

So we lost on the road to Number 9 Georgetown and Number 1 Cuse.  We were down 23 to Cuse, came to within 2.  Almost flipped the script from the Georgetown game..where we gave up a 16 point lead only to lose by 3.  MU almost got there against Cuse.  Sure would like a win instead of a moral victory - but when you take a wider view...guess we can find a few positives.

DJO will drive me absolutely crazy this entire year...he's practically a can't live with him, can't live without him kind of player...

But these back to back games showed the difference between MU and other teams. THEY CANT FLIP THE SWTICH. They blow big leads for losses while coming back from deficits only to lose.

Thats why I always say I prefer a close game through out. We fare better.

I liked our effort. I also think we could win our next 10 games before heading to UCONN. Louisville is overrated and the schedule other than them is very winnable. Go 9-1 in that stretch and were 21-5, and probably back in the top 10. Good effort today...now back to enjoying Maui.

No way do we go 9-1 in the next 10 games. No way. If any team has been proven to be overrated has been us.

We're a top 5 team in the country if you combine out first half vs G'Town and our 2nd half vs Cuse.  I don't think we're an NIT team if you combined the 2nd vs gtown and 1st vs cuse.  Great to see we have the potential. Would be really nice to have a full game with the energy, emotional, and sense of urgency that we played with in the two good halves.

It would have been really nice if Otule wasn't lost for the season. I think we were a true Final Four contender with him. He just solidified the other positions on the court by everyone not having to play out of position so badly.

You guys are kidding, right? Yeah, it was nice to see some adjustments made and executed after the half, but the first 20 minutes were brutal. Reading how some find it admirable that their alma mater actually played a full 40 minute game without folding their tent and taking their ball home with them is weak sauce and soft. That's expected, plain and simple.
I'll remind all of you that some were creaming themselves a short time ago, that this was a 2 seed and had more talent than any Warrior squad in some time. Oh, and we beat the Big 10 powerhouse on their home court. What a joke.
This team has major flaws with and without Otule. Relative to how Buzz has constructed his roster, they can't successfully compete against college basketball's elite teams on a regular basis. Yeah, they can play with them, in spurts, but don't count on too many W's.
Proud of them? Sure, when they all take the next step in improvement and when the roster is constituted with talent that makes games, like today, more even.

That was so 3 weeks ago 4everwarriors.  Many flaws on this team, but the conference schedule is our friend.  We will end up winning 11 or 12 Big East games, posters here will think we are awesome but are we?  We're a good team, but nothing like the exotic claims of earlier this season.

+1 on everything else

Can't say I disagree with anything here. Spot on.

Loved MU's intensity, especially in the second half.  If only we could shoot.  We could have won this game if we could make our shots.  Mayo was off.  Jamil needs to be more aggressive offensively.  Vander played well.  Jae couldn't make his outside shot.  If we make a few shots we win.  We need shooters and big men.

bilsu

I am pleased with the second half effort and I think it makes a difference the next game. I think the second half melt down against Georgetown had a physcological effect on the first half at Syracuse. Confidence is a big thing in sports. Combine us coming off a bad performance with Georgetown with Syracuse being rev up because we beat them twice last year and the first half was not such a surprise. Second half was not either, because as far as Syracuse was concerned the game was over and Buz was able to rally his troops at half time. Now we can go into ST. John's game with some postive vibes, because of the second half effort.

slingkong

So with this moral victory in hand, does that make MU's record 12-4 (1-2) or 12-3-1 (1-1-1)?
