Seth Davis doesn't have Marquette in his AP Top 25 this week. I figured he'd watch enough/know enough to put us in. Interesting...

I'm trying to figure out how California can lose 92-53 and still be in the top 25.

Were we in his top 25 last week? I know Enlund posted all of the AP votes, but I can't seem to find that post.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Seth has not voted for Marquette all year.

Let's beat the Badgers and give him a reason to put us in.

Just sent this:

Heard Seth on the radio yesterday. He commented on MU and said so far we have not played decent competition yet so the jury is still out.

Cal lost to top 20 Missouri by 39. Maybe if we can stay within 50 against top 10 Wisconsin we'll crack Seth's top 25.

I don't think it's that big a deal and I like Seth Davis, but it's really inexplicable that we're not in his top 25. We're coming off a Sweet 16, having basically manhandled Xavier (#10) and beaten Syracuse (#4) in the process. I know we lost Butler, but we picked up some solid players and have two seniors in DJO and Crowder to pick up the slack. It's kinda weird.

Gotta give Davis credit for this remark at the end of his notes:

"Marquette is 5-0 but they haven't played anybody good. The Warriors play in Madison this Saturday. If they win that one, they're a shoo-in to make my ballot next week."

If we win at the Hole, where top-5 Duke, OSU, and Purdue have lost in recent years, we should be top-ten. No hyperbole intended.

Pomeroy still has Cal barely in his top 25, but wow does the Pac12 look weak this year.  I like to match up conferences 1 v 1, 2 v 2 etc. and give the win to whoever has a better rank in Pomeroy.  Of the major conferences, the SEC and Pac 12 have battling for 5th and 6th for a while, but this year the Pac12 is nowhere close to even the SEC.  The SEC goes 9-3, and are within a couple of spots of sweeping 1 thorugh 12 (Oregon just 4 spots ahead of Miss St, Colorado just 2 spots ahead  of Auburn and Southern Cal just 3 spots better than South Carolina.)  Doesn't look like Cal will have a lot of chances for quality wins to make up for the Missouri blowout.

Kentucky 1 vs. California 22
Florida 8 vs. Stanford 36
Alabama 10 vs. Washington 41
Vandy 31 vs. Arizona 56
Oregon 63 vs. Mississippi St 67 PAC12 barely wins
Mississippi 76 vs. Oregon State 87
Georgia 78 vs.  Arizona State 111
Tennessee 82 vs. Washington State 116
Arkansas 85 vs. UCLA 120
Colorado 122 vs. Auburn 124 PAC12 barely wins
USC 135 vs. South Carolina 138 PAC12 barely wins
LSU 140 vs. Utah 241

Also, good job DePaul.  Nice to see all 16 Big East teams in the Top 150 as well.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

davis puts MU at #13 this week

🏀

Goodman and Parrish also have us at #13.

cheebs09

Those are two guys (Davis and I know one of Goodman and Parish get votes) that have had us low or unranked. So both having us at thirteen means we could be top ten. It depends if the people had us high move us up more than a few spots.

Did Davis move Florida up after losing to Cuse?

... and vandy is at 17 losing twice this week.
