While I'm hoping that we come down with someone like McGary or Cleare, Nolan wouldn't be a bad backup plan at all. He's very athletic and fast for his size, has a pretty solid jumper, and is definitely more of a 4 than a 5. Is he the superstar big we've been hoping for? No, but he does fit that project big position. My only worry is that he has said he wants to play immediately, and I'm not sure he'd have the opportunity here. Still, if it was explained to him that he needed to earn his minutes, I have a feeling that by his sophomore or junior year, he could be a pretty good player.

Well, lets just ignore that the kid is a total head case.

If we sign him we will be sorry.

What evidence suggests that he is a "head case."  This is the only place I have seen that description of him.  Are we only basing that on that he has had so many transfers?

I know nothing of Nolan, but I am always one to wish troubled players to just go out of state. They will never change their lives if they hang out with the same friends from Milwaukee. I will probably get blasted for this but I wish we were further from Madison because of the stories I heard about Blue. I feel his teammates would have a bigger influence on him if he wasn't hanging out with his hs friends like I have heard. Still like Blue and think he will be a good player, just think a change of atmosphere would have helped.

How many non-head cases transfer as often as the seasons change?

Well, it could be just as easilly said that he has been given poor advice...or parenting.  I'm not sure that just the transfers indicate that he would be difficult for Buzz to coach.

Buzz fixed this problem with Buycks...I think the same would be true with Blue or anyone else that Buzz feels is making the same mistakes.

Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but the raw talent is there. I haven't heard anything negative about him other than the transfers. If our other options sign elsewhere, he's worth a flier as a project big man. If Buzz and company can't get him into shape, he transfers out and we look elsewhere. If he settles down and bulks up, however, Nolan could be a really, really good player for us.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a bigger fan of a guy like McGary, but if we can't get him, I think it's worth giving Nolan a chance.

Sometimes this blog is really interesting and there are other times like this summer that a lot of jibberish is written.  Since Buzz doesn't post on this blog and its his team, none of our speculation matters.  What matter is what Buzz thinks about players.  So far, he has shown to be a very good recruiter.  There are a limited number of openings on the team, so we shouldn't expect to be constantly entertained by recruiting news.  Let's focus on the players that we have on the team and root them on for a big year!
