It's April - who's left?
« on: April 01, 2011, 09:33:12 AM »
Buzz has a history of making roster additions in the spring - and it's now April. Who's out there as possibilities for that last schollie?

The NJCAA All Americans list should be announced soon.  I couldn't find it.  I'd bet our last recruit is on that list.

I'd love a big man transfer from the coaching carousel.  Give him a year to bang make Otule and Gardner better in practice then form a three-headed monster the year I think we have a real shot to return to the final four, 2012/2013.

We need a freshman big man (I'd take a transfer who had 3 years remaining after he sat out).  A big project?  Who cares.  He won't need to play next year.  A project is OK this time.

I wouldnt mind this at all. All of our JUCO recruits have been good-great on the floor and fantastic off. I dont want Buzz to be attachted to keep going this route but I have the faith he knows what hes doing (where would we be without our JUCOS?!?). A big man transfer / frosh would be another great possibility.

Maybe Mbao wants to come back?  ;D

What about local players? Any MPS guys flying under the radar? I know they all pretty much bolted Milwaukee for prep schools....
Warrior in the class of 2011.

I don't think it is going to be a JUCO.

One guy that is still out there is Keith Coleman from Maine who is apparently raw but picked up late offers from Rutgers and Seton Hall.

Why recruit locally?  Wisconsin HS basketball isn't very good.

As I mentioned previously-------------------
Jarion Henry   6-8   4-star  Texas
Otto Porter    6-9   4-star   Missouri
Jamari Traylor  6-8  3-Star  Illinois
Kevin Coleman 6-9   3-Star  Philly
God's Gift Achiuwa 6-9

I know we are connected with Henry. Why not try for PORTER. He is verygood and would be an
impact player. Achiuwa is a 230 lb. rebounder/scorer. (JC) Player) Coleman and Traylor projects. Henry
seems he likes to be begged. Not high on him.

I posted something about Traylor a few months ago...I would LOVE to see Buzz go get this kid (though i'm pretty sure we're not involved at all)...he plays for the Chicago Mean Streets AAU program and the kid is widely referenced as a college ready body with great athleticism and a TREMENDOUS REBOUNDER...

Just the type of inside player we could use coming off of our bench.

That is actually Keith Coleman, currently at a prep school in Maine, that I mention above.

Anyone worried that we only have 2 PGs?  Maybe the memory of Dan Fitzgerald, Marcus Jackson, and Joe Chapman bringing it up.  Maybe Blue, DJO, or Jamil Wilson can handle it.  It's a tough call for me on whether I would rather see Buzz take a big man project or a third PG.

We had 2 PGs this year.  1 PG last year (Acker).  1PG the year before (James).

I guess I've gotten used to it.

Yes. My dream scenario would be for BJ Young to decommit from Arkansas and head north. Definitely a bigger need for this year in my mind than a big.

BJ Young recommitted.

I think we have been lucky these last two years.  When DJ went down, we had a better than expected backup in Acker.  Plus, Cubillan was there to spell him.  We have been lucky to have seniors running the point and backing up the point.

This year, the PG was a weakness before Junior figured it out.  Byucks did fine playing out of position, but he is gone.  We are going with Junior who really only had a few good games at the end and a 3 star freshman.  I am not sure that Junior can play the type of minutes that James and Acker played as seniors.

And Wilson is a 5th year recruit right?
I'm sure he'll be coming in with some solid experience gained in his prep year.
