Someone leaked Tennesse's top 5: http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2011/mar/23/five-coaches-top-uts-list-search-replace-bruce-pea/

1-  Jamie Dixon
2- Jay Wright
3- Anthony Grant from within their conference at bama
4- Mark Turgeon of Tex AM (this would get some serious Buzz rumors going)
5- Gregg Marshall of Wichita State

Does Tennessee really think that Dixon or Wright would give up their easy shots at talented east coast players?  Seems a little pie in the sky to me.

brewcity77

Dixon and Wright to Tennessee? That's hilarious. No way they leave their jobs for a school that will likely be getting some heavy NCAA sanctions. I have a feeling they won't be getting any of their top 5. None of those guys would be better off at UT.

I hope they've got a 6-10 list.

Agreed.
Marshall may be the only possibility on that list.

How refreshing.   A fan base with realistic expectations of who their next coach will be.   ::)

I was about to say the same thing... The smartest choice for Tennessee would have been to keep Pearl and fire the AD.
While there would have been NCAA violations you still would have had a pretty good coach and their best player...
None of those coaches are going to want to work for the Ten AD after the way he has handled football and bball.

Bad situation for the vols

Marshall and OU might make more sense.

If Tennessee is a step down for MU, and A&M is thought to be a step up, why would Buzz to A&M also be a step up? This is a joke.

Buzz is from Texas and coached there.

UT is a step down right now because of their potential sanctions. I think otherwise it would be considered a step up when you look at what Pearl did with the program before all the dirty laundry was aired. Buzz to A&M may not necessarily be a step up, but it's a step closer to home. Any return to Oklahoma or Texas will be regarded as a possible destination for Buzz because of his roots and connections there.

Either way, I'd be floored if Turgeon had any interest in UT right now.

Phil Jackson says he's done coaching the Lakers after this season.
Just sayin'.

I didn't think Maymon could afford to sit out another year - declaring already? (No disrespect, I feel bad for the kid)
