That thread now has good news about:
- Saunders  - got his LOI signed
- Mbakwe - doing excellent in school & plans to sign LOI this week.

That leaves only Hazel...

p.s - Zig...I hope that wasn't a dig on any members here...

ilovefreeway

I think I can speak for Zig when I say he wouldn't dig your members ;D

ZiggysFryBoy

no, it was a reference to the bucky board and their constant drum anging about how TM would make grades or enroll.

and I definately don't dig your members. :D

Found a video (and interview) of Scott's signing on the WXOW website.

MarkMiller

Thanks for the video link.

People will be pleasantly surprised by Scott's ability over the next four or, potentially, five seasons.

LastWarrior

Mark - What would you say are the strengths & weaknesses of Scott's game?  What would be his best position in college?

Thanks!!
"The Lord is a Warrior" - Exodus 15:3

MarkMiller

Strengths:

Work ethic, perimeter shooting, ball handling, physical strength, competitiveness, finding open teammates, mental toughness.

Weaknesses:

Over penetration, tendency to force things at times, quickness, defense.

Best position at the next level:

Probably the two-guard spot as I question his ability to get past jet-quick defenders or be able to stop jet-quick lead guards.

ilovefreeway

What does this mean, Mark?

"or, potentially, five seasons."

Are you in the know or just playing here?

LastWarrior

There's been some talk on this board and on marquettehoops that redshirting Scott next year might not be a bad idea.  I personally only like the idea if DJ stays another year.

A redshirt year for Scott is possible. That's what I was referring to.

NYWarrior

If James stays at MU, I hope TC does redshirt Christopherson......otherwise, he'll lose a productive season

77ncaachamps

Redshirting Scott might be good since Acker will be eligible and he can improve and learn in practices.

Also, do you think Scott is: Luke Ridnour II or Travis Diener II?

He looks so much like Ridnour!

So .. if DJ leaves after this year, you'd have two guys competing for PG, Acker and Christopherson.

And let's remember, Mo was Freshman of the Year in the MAC .. and he'll have had two years practicing, one under Crean, going against DJ all year long.

I'd put my money on Acker being our PG for years, unless SC really poured it on.

Nukem2

I think Cubillan and Acker would be the PGs whenever DJ leaves.  Scott sounds more like a "2".

I agree.  I never got the impression the SC was being targeted as a pure point guard.  Sure he could do it, but just like with Diener, and now DJ (Cubillan too) - he'd do well at the 2 guard spot as well.  With the experience that Acker and Cubillan will get this year, it'd be best to keep them as the PG duo if DJ leaves, and leave SC work his way into the rotation at the 2.

mu_hilltopper

As I was writing that, I had a nagging feeling I was forgetting something.  Cubillan.

WashDCWarrior

Diener came in as a 2-guard, with Henry running the point.  It wasn't until his sophomore year that he made the transition.  Scott seems to be a similar incoming player to Diener, let's all hope that he ends up being 3/4 as good.  Once DJ leaves, Acker is the only pure point, but both Daveed and Scott will get minutes running it.  One thing I really like about this team is the versatility.  Everybody can play multiple positions.

Strokin 3s

As a long time "lurker" on the scout and rivals board, I figured this topic would be a good one to make my first post on.  I am a graduate of both La Crosse Aquinas (Scott's school) and MU.  While I have only seen him play once the thing that struck me was that he had an off night shooting, but when I looked up at the end of the game he still had around 25-26 points.  Oh yea, one other thing, he can get up there, during pre-game warm-ups he's well above the rim dropping his lay ups in.

WashDCWarrior

Thanks for the insight, and welcome.  Good to hear about his athletisism.  If DJ returns, do you think he's be a good redshirt candidate?
