He always seemed like a bit of a d-bag, but he was a satchel man all along.

Former Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez arrested
By TOM CANAVAN
AP Sport Writer
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Fired Seton Hall basketball coach Bobby Gonzalez has been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at a New Jersey mall.
Millburn police say the 47-year-old Gonzalez was arrested Monday after reporting to police headquarters and was charged Tuesday with shoplifting and criminal mischief.
He is accused of taking a $1,400 men's satchel from the Polo Ralph Lauren store in the Short Hills Mall on June 29.
Gonzalez, who was fired March 17 after the university got fed up with his antics on and off the court, was not immediately available for comment.
Gerald Krovatin is representing Gonzalez in a lawsuit over his dismissal. He did not return a telephone call from The Associated Press seeking comment.
A spokeswoman for the Essex County prosecutor's office says the shoplifting charge is a third-degree offense punishable by up to five years in jail.

Not seeing Bobby Gonzalez embarrass himself and others on the court is one of the things I'm looking forward to most for the upcoming season.  Though knowing him, he would probably run onto the court from the stands during a game and take care of said embarrassment.

the police report:

On 6/29/2010 at approximately 3:00 PM the Millburn Police responded to Polo Ralph Lauren, located at The Mall at Short Hills on a report of property damage. The manager of Polo Ralph Lauren reported that the manager of Joes American Bar and Grill returned a men's satchel to her that belonged to Polo Ralph Lauren, reporting that an individual came into the restaurant, left the satchel with the hostess and never returned. The satchel, valued at $1,395.00, was reportedly damaged in the area where a sensor tag had been attached. Investigation into the incident by the Millburn Detective Bureau resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for Robert P. Gonzalez, age 47, of Harrison, N.Y. for allegedly removing the sensor device from the satchel and walking out of the store without paying for the item. Mr. Gonzalez responded to police headquarters on 7/05/2010 where he was arrested and charged with N.J.S.A. 2C: 20-11B(1) Shoplifting and N.J.S.A. 2C: 17-3A(1) Criminal Mischief. Mr. Gonzalez was released on his own recognizance.

You'd think he would have learned from his players and hit the cop in the nuts.

Doesn't he watch beer commercials?  Wonder if he has a lower back tat, too.
