Lame.  Get on him for being a "blowhard."  Get on him for making predictions.

1. I didn't call him a blowhard.  That really wouldn't be my choice of words.

2. If you think saying that conferences will continue to change in membership in the next 2, 4, or 10 years is a prediction, you're lame.

3.  It's cute how you have Chico's back.

The most interesting part of this entire debate, to me, is how MR. HAYWARD not only re-invented himself as the new poster "Canadian Dimes," but how he re-invented his grammar, spelling and general writing style.

What a transformation! MR. HAYWARD was the catepillar to the prophetic Canadian Dimes' butterfly. Amazing stuff.

In all seriousness, how crazy do you have to be to actually change your writing style when changing screen name. Not even Murf, Red Barron, Gr8one changed his now infamous ----'s despite moving from moniker to moniker.

1. Title of thread

2. Why?  The point he is making is that there still is instabilities

3. The piling on for the sake of piling on is worse.

The internet is a wonderful and strange place.  What would we do without it :D

That is a silly statement.  Canadian Dimes has never met Mr. Hayward, although he greatly admires him and shares his disdain for spell check and the re-reading of posts for punctuation and typo's on a message board.   He leaves that to anal retentive school girls.

Robert.....tsk tsk.

So you predicted TCU and Colorado State to the Big 12....I'm anxiously awaiting since "you pretty much nailed it" per Lenny.  Laughable on all levels.....as soon as he said this was all simple he lost all credibility.  A major shift was coming, every insider knew it, every media source knew it, it took an 11th hour Hail Mary to stop it.  Lenny, if you're saying that Robbie's cattle farm up in Indiana knew that was happening, you're delusional.

Dimes  .... and in your most recent post you said I predicted what would happen....please, find those predictions for me...I'm waiting.  Of course, that means you have to be able to understand what the word prediction means.

This is a very odd thread. I live in Houston. I just finished watching the most "drama" in the conference's sports news since the blow up of the SWC. Is one a "drama queen" for watching real, accurate news reports of Pac 10 invites, SEC invite to A&M, and 2 teams leaving the conference?
This was FACTUALLY very dramatic, even if the ending was an anticlimax.
Name the last, most recent occassion, when two teams split from their conferences , of many decades, and joined 2 different conferences, neither of whom had expanded for 20 years. never.
I am watching  a movie "thirteen days"---by analogy,  you are sounding like  Adlai Stevenson knowing a diplomatic solution would resolve the cuban missile crisis, and mocking the drama queen General LeMay, and the supreme knowledge Kennedys/McNamara for worrying about, discussing and playing out all those "supreme knowledge" scenarios and options, and wasting everyone's time , given the anticlimax that you foresaw (not at the beginning, but 5 days before the end- ie mid story).....Thanks Adlai for your wisdom

and for that, he got an expressway named for him.  :D

Houwarrior i hear what you are saying but i think you are confusing facts with reality and the true players with internet drama queens.

It would be one thing if the drama queens on this board that are predicting events were actually the Mcnamaras and Kennedys or in this case the AD's and Conference commisioners.  they are not, they are people who claim to have inside knowledge to appear importnat on an internet message board!!!!   all the while claiming to be recieving inside first hand information from close friends and associates.  In effect, showing to all the lack of veracity and any contacts whatsoever.  My guess is bits of information may have been given in lieu of a reach around or simple speculation by internet personas trying to appear connected.   Akin to IWB saying big news is coming so when he repeats second hand news he appears to be in the know.  WOw! dont wake me.

Let's see. 84 predicts 8-8 or better for MU. A "seismic shift" occurs, leaving MU without the starting point guard, starting center and key backup on which much of his forecast was predicated. But when MU finishes 11-7 you say 84 nailed it.

Dimes predicted minor changes in conference realignment while everyone else on the board was talking cataclsym. Turns out he's right and everyone else was wrong. But you are insisting he's wrong because change people called imminent might happen two, five or ten years from now? This could go down as definition #2 in Webster's for irony.

ChicosBailBonds

Lenny, no one PREDICTED what would happen with conference realignment.  Instead, people offered what COULD happen, what MIGHT happen, not what WOULD HAPPEN.

That's the issue...we have a fundamental failure to interpret what PREDICT means...it's obvious the Robbie doesn't get it, I'm surprised you don't....though we don't agree on many things, at least you're an intelligent man.

And yes, 84 did PREDICT a record last year....a true PREDICTION.  No one, I repeat, NO ONE, predicted anything on conference realignment.  NO ONE said MU will be in X conference, or the Pac Ten will definitely get 16 teams, etc, etc.  They were scenarios of possibilities.  I assume you understand this distinction, it is clear Robbie does not.

The above "reach around" comment, and that of "anal retentive" school girls seems to make  un needed references to gays/homophobia. Its totally up to you, but I, as one here, would give your posts more substance/respect  if you could try to avoid  adding gratuitous crudeness--they dont make your points any stronger/better. Thank you in advance, for the effort.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Homophobia connected to MU...say it ain't so.

There was no "seismic shift".  There were a few minor changes at the margins. I based my prediction on :
a) Hayward playing like a true star
b) Buycks & DJO merely living up to their reputations as the 1st team All_Americans they were
c) Butler playing like the top 20 offensive rated player he was (and playing like he did the 2nd half of his sophomore year)
d) Acker played sufficiently well during the last 8 games of 2008 that we would be "just fine" without Cadougan

Seems to me that the four pillars of my prediction were dead-on rock solid.  Your "seismic shift" might have knocked a feathers into the air, but it hardly undermined the foundation.

Meanwhile, Dimes didn't offer any reasoning or justification as to his insight--he just made a wild-ass guess.  Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Two teams move!  That's it!  I want my money back!!!!

Actually four teams and counting.  Colorado, Nebraska, Boise State, and Utah.  The Western Athletic Conference has said that its not done, and the Mountain West may decided to replace Utah.

The following is not in response to Ruby.
"and the Mountain West may decided to replace Utah"  Gee, I hope I'm not committing the sin of prediction here.  If they try, but don't succeed does that count?  Or do I then attain blowhard status?

Oh BTW, The Big Ten is back on their original schedule of I think one year to 18 months.  If anyone thinks the Big Ten is done, you have a surprise coming.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
