I actually met him in the late 80s in the Maryland suburbs.  He was driving a Ford Bronco with the driver's seat modified to almost where the rear seat was and had an extended steering wheel.  The strangest modification I have ever seen and man was he ever skinny.  Shame he passed away so young.  He was beloved in the DC area.

I always loved this prank.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cwc6Sdlhp9A
We had a life size poster of him in our apartment and would get some great reactions.
The guy was a character and took advantage of his fame to help others. Most athletes could learn a lot by his example.

The barkley prank was awesome.  he also beat the Fridge in celebrity boxing.
