So Blue, Jones, Crowder, Smith and Gardner arent working hard as well?

We know very little about Newbill, compared to what we know about the other guys. I think most of the guard minutes next year go to Cadougan, DJO, Buycks and Blue...not sure when Newbill breaks into the rotation.
Totally agree

On the flip side, I saw him twice and was greatly impressed. The kid has a great body and excellent athleticism, to go along with good driving ability and a sweet looking shot from range. Seemed a bit lazy on defense, but I think Buzz will take care of that... He will likely want to play shooting guard because thats where he would best fit at the next level (just like vander mentions wanting to be a 1), but with MU's 3 guard type offense he can play the three and have a great career at MU.

I voted Jones, and largely due to what I saw of him in his recent performances on ESPN.  Agree with all of the above analysis.  Lots of athletic ability, nice shot, but can look a bit passive on the court..almost like a T-Mac who seems to be effortlessly moving around the court.  Offensively, my bet is Jamail is ready to contribute immediately, and posesses a better shot than Vander.  Vander probably is a slightly better athlete than Jamail - but Jamail has some length Vander doesn't - though if Vander is being groomed as a 1, obviously his size is ideal.  Defense will determine if Jamail gets many minutes next year.

Sorry my statement is a bit misleading.  Obviously they are all getting ready, but from what we have heard and seen Newbill's program looks like it will prepare him well for Buzz's boot camp.  Yes, this is just based on what Brad has posted; but it is more in-depth and better documented than the training of the others so far.  As for the comment about minutes next year I agree, that it will be difficult for Newbill to get a lot of minutes, just as Smith will likely have some trouble.  But the question was who outside of Blue and Jones who will have the better Career at MU.

Give it to me straight.  One out of a million?

So Benny, what you're saying is there is A chance.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I hope they will both be solid, but my vote goes to Vander. I think he has a better chance to get off and running as our only experienced point is a sophomore that played limited minutes last year due to injury, whereas the competition at that 3/4 type position that Jones will play is occupied by Butler, Fulce, Crowder, and Williams (another limited minutes sophomore).

I'm guessing that by their junior year, both will be very good, very productive players, but I think Blue's maturity and athletic ability will serve him better in the long term. That being said, I'm hoping they both end up playing in the NBA after cutting down some form of nets (BE tourney, NCAA Final Four) at Marquette.

I have Blue but Jones will probably be a larger contributor early on (aka next year)

Sleeper - Reggie Smith, he  will struggle with his size and in finding a position (playing the 1 or 3 at the college level) but his athleticism and ball skills make him someone who has the potential to be a big (and exciting) contributor

I thought he was 6'1"

but yea, 2 inches more won't make him a 3 either.

I think that this post is evidence that Blue is the most underrated top recruit we've ever had.  He's the real deal Holyfield... No doubt his MU career will reflect that.
