OK last week of the seaon so thought I'd pump these out a little more frequently. Updated through tonight's ND/UConn game.

*Note -- Marquette is locked in the 1pm timeslot. If Pitt wins one of their last two games, they lock MU into the 5 spot, regardless of the outcome vs. Notre Dame.

Movement since Monday
Seton Hall: Jumped from #12 to #10 (+2)
Marquette: Jumped from #6 to #5 (+1)
Notre Dame: Jumped from #8 to #7 (+1)

Louisville: Dropped from #5 to #6 (-1)
Georgetown: Dropped from #7 to #8 (-1)
Cincinnati: Dropped from #10 to #11 (-1)
UConn: Dropped from #11 to #12 (-1)

Rollout-the-Barrel

Afternoon game would be a bummer, but rematch with Pitt would be nice if we got past a desparate UCONN team.

Even though they lost tonight, I still don't want to play UCONN.   Maybe now that they are NCAA toast, they won't be as motivated, who knows.......

PGsHeroes32

really dont wana have to face Uconn again.

We would have the worst draw of the 5-8 if UCONN were to win, obviously.  I think we would take care of business against the others that we could play, but this year has been so unpredictable, and other than Louisville, all our games are close, so NO game is a guaranteed win in the Big East.

Their only hope would be winning the tournament, so I would expect them to be as motivated as ever.

Am I right in assuming we have locked up the 5 seed, owning the tie breaker over Lou?

While UCONN looks scary in the second round, all they have to do is win at USF in the final game of the season to jump out of that 12 spot.

I don't see them winning five games for the title, but you can never tell.  Cuse did it a few years ago.

I hope some other team, like Rutgers, can get into UCONN's current BE bracket slot after it all shakes out this weekend.  UCONN wins next game, they move out?

LastWarrior

I want no part of UConn.  Looks like we need to root for Cinci to lose @ GTown and for UConn to win @ USF.  That would move UConn to #11 and Cinci to #12.  I assume SHU will win at Rutgers & Providence.

All we need is Uconn to win, that would move USF to 8-10 as well giving Uconn the tiebreaker. Looks like we are playing Rutgers,Uconn,Cincy or USF.

5 seed is a virtual guarantee. The ONLY other seed MU could be is a 4. For that to happen, Pitt needs to lose their last 2 games. If they split and MU beats Notre Dame, they will both finish 12-6, but Pitt wins the tiebreaker due to their victory.

If UConn beats USF, they don't necessarily jump a seed. If Cincinnati wins their last game, nothing changes. They will have the same record, which Cincy will always have the higher seed due to sweeping UConn.

PGsHeroes32

No. Uconn would take the tie breaker on USF

There are some hardcore Sallies on this thread. Why wouldnt you want to play UConn? They're a big name program that will have a lot of fans at the Garden and it will be a battle. I've got my tickets so Im hoping for a show. I really dont want us to play anybody else except UConn on the second day.

Cuse only won four for the title.

Before you all schedule your "meetings" for Wed, just remember that the game won't start until about 1:30.

TheButlerDidIt

According to kenpom projections for the rest of the Beast season, Marquette will end up as a 5 in a St. John's-Cincy-WVU string.

mileskishnish72

If Pitt & WVU end up tied, Pitt has the tiebreaker (I think) based on their having beaten Cuse. I think it would be better to play them than Pitt in the second game.

Yeah, Pitt's chances of staying down at #4 aren't too good.  If they win both, which is likely, and WVU beats Nova, Pitt is the #2, and Nova is the #4.  If they win at least one and Nova beats WVU, Pitt is #3, WVU is #4.  I feel good about this bracket if we can avoid UConn.
