Huh, thought he was going to wait until the sexual assault case was cleared up before announcing.

I strongly suspect this isn't anywhere close to the end of the Lance Stephenson saga.

Not surprising, given the fact that the Bearcats haven't recruited "character guys" in the past.  Also, they needed to roll the dice since they have been pretty bad at basketball over the past few seasons.

Meh, I think it is surprising.......Cronin has done a good job rebuilding that program and changing the culture there.  He returns just about his entire roster from last year's 18-win team and has a nice recruiting class to add to the mix.  Why blow up your own steady rebuilding plan with a gigantic question mark (one that'll ensure the NCAA gets a hotel suite next door for months) that is no sure thing?

I fCincinnati wasn't committed to cleaning up the program, why did they get rid of Huggins?

Cronin is feeling some heat right now which is probably why he's willing to take the chance.  Alums and Boosters want wins right now, character is second for them.

Almost sounds like a Tim Floyd situation.

I don't think he was on the hot seat before OJ Mayo (he was a new coach), but he took a chance on a questionable kid and it brought the whole program down.

Certainly Floyd has some guilt in it, so I guess if Cronin is on the up and up, this shouldn't ruin the program like it did for USC.

Who cares about that article....what a picture of Megan Fox linked to in it!

Floyd wasn't on the hot seat, you are correct. That comes with the expectations at USC for hoops which is considerably lower than the hoops expectations at Cincinnati.  I suppose it all depends on the risk / reward construct.  If Cronin feels he has to act now to save his gig, then he might be willing to take that risk.

Nany Zimpher is no longer running UC.  My guess is that if she was still there, this might not be happening.

I think you hit it on the head. She left June 1. Less than a month later and they are back to being a scum school.

It really feels like they are diving into the scum headfirst all over again.  I'm sure their fanbase will be pumped up about it.
