Hah.  That statement means zip, it's all from UL's office.  Until Pitino says it, or the Kings job is filled ..

Agreed...that holds about as much water as a Nick Saban commitment or a Brett Favre retirement.

Fixed (in my opinion).

Here's hoping he goes to sacramento, runs the kings into the ground then runs for governor and finishes off what's left of the state of california.

The Kings are already into the ground, the state is a 3rd world country now (just remember, what happens in California eventually happens everywhere in this country).   Tick tock tick tock....only a few more years....counting down the days to get out of this banana republic.

Maybe the current predicament in CA will make it so that you jokers start taking your elections more seriously.

Same goes to you, MN!

There once was a saying about what is good for General Motors is good for America.   A lot of wisdom there.   A modern corollary is that as General Motors goes, so goes America.   Living in Michigan, trust me when I say that California has a ways to go before it finds the bottom.    Also, ponder the wisdom of Ross Perot when he told us all about that giant sucking sound of jobs going to Mexico.     Back on point, Pitino is a better college coach than pro coach.   I hope he stays at Louisville until he retires.

Thought this was a post about Pitino, not xenophobic state bashing politics, that discussion belongs at the Superbar.

Yup....it's nothing like it was in 1973 when I moved here.  Bankrupt on so many levels.  It's sad.  We will miss the weather and the ocean but will gain so much more.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, CA is going to hell in a hand basket.  Proof:  Everyone of you badmouthers is worse off now than you were twenty-five years ago, or whenever you first moved to CA, right?

Like what?  Every state's budget is in a mess right now.

I actually really like California when I visit (from Indiana) and would move there if the right situation presented itself.

Hasn't California fallen into the ocean yet?  Seriously I'm looking for some prime ocean front property in the Nevada desert.

State Budget aside, California is a net contributor to the Fed (see link below).  CA is not good place for state taxes... no doubt.  But, for us non-Californians we have nothing to complain about.  If you want to complain about states... take a look at the Southern states which are mainly a net drain on federal funds.

When we built our home in Las Vegas (1994) we used to say that we might eventually have ocean front property someday when the big one hits California. But our concern now is the water supply running dry.  My wife and I call Las Vegas "little LA" because, on a smaller scale, we have all the problems LA has.  "Water is the new oil."

In comparative terms, absolutely.   Twenty five years ago the house cost $55K brand new.  Today, over $500K for that same house built 25 years ago (not even a new one).  Salaries didn't go up that much. Very difficult for young people to make a go of it.

25 years ago, #3 in education....today, #44 in education

25 years ago, lower taxes, lower unemployment, much less of an illegal immigration issue, gangs not as prevelent, etc, etc

So yes, not even close.

There's a REASON why so many businesses and people have left the state in recent years unlike 25 years ago when they were flooding it to come IN
