MR.HAYWARD

"Back in 1976 i had just started to be aware of college basketball and fell in love with the Indiana Hoosiers.  I liked their stylish uniforms and their eclectic coach.  I called the sports information office and got a 1976 media guide and continued to get one ever since, and since then I have always been an IU fan.  Therefore I see this as a destination job.  I hope to contact their legendary coach and maybe go for a walk in the park or a car ride"   Blah, Blah Blah.

hopefully the crean lovers will now see Crean for the hollow person many of us always have.  No andy katz does not simply hate MU and was only reporting that Crean was putting his name out for the Illinois and OSu jobs and Iu the last time becuase he really was.  If Illinois takes him he is gone in 2003.  had he left in 2003 we would probably be better off today.  yes losing him may cost a few players or recruits and will be a temporary pothole.  However, this uy left alot to be desired on the court and especially off it, just ask george thompson.  People are afraid and that is valid but people also need to see this as an incredible opportunity to hire someone who is not only a better caoch but a much better person and one who is not interested in putting MU over abarrel ever year looking looking for "better" opportunities and renegotiating.  The uy was/is aBIg 10 guy good for him this is clearly not the place for him.  At least oneill had the stones to admit it.

It was to that effect. I could smell the bullcrap TC was spewing here in Oak Creek.

Anybody have a transcript of his introductory press conference at MU? Didn't he say something almost identical?

You suckers...Mr.Hayward made this up.  I think it's hilarious, but it can't be the Indiana press conference--it was posted 90 minutes before the press conference even started!

That's why its funny and very well done by MR. HAYWARD. Obviously not his exact words, but he came pretty close.

Today's press conference from the Indianapolis Star...

"It has to start with family because that's what I just walked into," Crean said.

Crean spent a large portion of his first news conference sharing stories of following IU basketball while growing up in Michigan. He recounted one of his favorite memories was meeting Kent Benson.

"I will never forget the 1976 championship game," he said. "I was 10 years of age. ... Those were defining moments in a little boys life.

"I loved watching Indiana. I loved that."

Pretty much the same crap.

I'm sure it was. Substitute "Hoosiers" for "Warriors", "'76 for '77" and "Knight" for "McGuire" and you may have the exact same speech.

Here's where I'm in agreement with you PRN, he's not the recruiter that everyone's hyping him up to be. If he were, we would have had commitments from five star recruits like Shumpert and Koshwal. 2 players who clearly ended up at inferior programs.

Also TC has always come across as a namedropping publicity seeking d-bag, but he was OUR name dropping publicity seeking d-bag and because of him we became a top 25 program again, that is the only reason I personally am going to miss him.  Now he can take his antics to IU where they can get drunk off the Crean and Crimson Kool-Aid. I'm done with it. On to getting someone of substance who can actually consistently recruit top level players.

Don't EVEN get me started on his gameplan adjustments...simply terrible. the Georgetown and Stanford games were games that should have been won with the proper adjusments. I'm sure I could think of many more over the years.

I sure hope you guys are right...

I'm just not so sure.

TC for all his faults, has accomplished a lot.

I hope the next coach can accomplish as much as TC.

MR.HAYWARD

I have to pat myself on the back on that one...not much of a stretch though I had that one peged no problem.   One of the resons I did not like Crean is he always seemd so fake.  The guy never had an original or genuine comment in 9 years.  Always seemd so plastic and who else can use so many words to say so little ?

MR.HAYWARD

One year and a few days ago not only did I nail it right on with what Tommy Naismith would do and say but i was correct in what would follow.

Mu is in great hands...big time upgrade in every single facet of being the leader of the Mu basketball program.   In fact Buzz has been even better than I expected. Did nayone really expect him to recruit THIS well?!?!  Did anyone expect him to be this classy!! Did anyone really expect him to have this dramatic an effect on the kids or represent the University this well??!!

Avenue Commons

Buzz has been great. He needs to continue to improve and represent our University well.

Crean is history. Let's move on.

Agreed. TC did a lot for MU and he had his warts as all coaches do.  TC moved on.  Time for us to move on as well.
