Marquette is #1 (2009 recruiting class)
« on: April 17, 2009, 05:57:47 PM »
Apparently I missed it in BMA's post yesterday, but Marquette now is ranked #1 by hoopscoop with 43 points.

http://www.hoopscooponline.com/members/toprecruitingclasses-classof2009.asp

A few days ago, they had us #2 tied with UNC with 39 total points.  Who was upgraded to jump to #1?

Regardless, great job Buzz (& staff)!

I believe it was the DJO signing.

Perhaps you're correct and I'm remembering the points incorrectly.  Regardless, it's drink-something-better-than-Miller Time.  A brief look at the Beer thread for some ideas, and I'm outta here...

here is the nityy gritty if it really matters....a few weeks ago we had a 35 and UNC a 39 then when DJO signed they gave him a 4 rating and we were tied at 39, then he was named 1st team all american and they changed his raniking to an 8 and we bumped up to a 43...#1 class in the country

Seriously guys its hoopscoop - who gives a crap!!  But the class on paper appears to be a top 20 class which is a good thing.

To you and other educated college hoopheads who may know the difference, I'd say sure.

But to the common person, prepster (and family), and news media outlet, #1 IS STILL #1.

that man  I think you are dead wrong....personally over the last 20 years I think Hoops Scoop has maybe been the best talent evaluator of them all.  Sure Rivals and scout have there own network to hype their lists but Hoops scopp rankings and system have IMO been the best

I know he does not count for this class. However, assuming he is healthly and can actually contribute our new players for next year's team includes Liam McMorrow, which I think gives us the best class of players becoming eligible to play next year.

How long before they update Kentucky, and they become number 1?

speakin of hoopscoop, look at the offers Buycks had and rivals and scout had him as a 3 star kentucky memphis Mu etc and the guy is a three star...hoopscopp has him a an 11-40 recruit,  DJO had offers from Tennesee, WVU, MU, and other big time programs  Knasas was watching him...again rivals and scout had him a 1st taem all american Juco as a 1 star.  Hoops scoop is better that scout and rivals.  At the end of the day is our class #! or #19? etc.  i have no idea but for people to say "c'mon it;s hoopscoop" is way off base

These rankings are of course very subjective, but who cares.  No reason not to celebrate Marquette receiving some good hype out of this service.  Indiana should be excited for their top 5 class as well.
