Doc Rivers having his number retired was a prime example of Crean having his nose completely up anybody's ass who he's ever seen on television. There is no way he belongs up there with Lee, Wade, Ellis or anybody else. I don't even think Maurice Lucas belongs up there.

I attended MU during the entire Doc Rivers era and I think all three of our senior guards, Tony Miller, Damon Key, Tony Smith, Travis Diener, Brian Wardle and Steve Novak (but not Jim McIlvaine) all did more while wearing an MU jersey than Doc did.  Doc was a fine player at MU and turned out to be a very good pro for a very long time and is a solid promoter of the school.  Unfortunately, Doc's fame and ability to promote the school, IMHO, was the primary reason he was afforded the honor, and I don't think that is a very good reason.  However, I have more trouble with Dwyane Wade receiving the honor simply because I'm a bit of a traditionalist and I would like that honor to be afforded only to true graduates.  He certainly earned it on the floor.

Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

I'm fine with Doc Rivers in the rafters.  But I do remember the whole time he played at MU, he was always described as a guy who was hampered by the college rules (traveling and charging to name a few) and held back by the style of ball that Majerus played, and everyone said that he would be a better pro than a college player.  Of course, they were correct.  I think all of those guys are deserving of the honor.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.
