He would provide greatly needed depth at the guard positions and he is a hell of a defender.

Fullodds

Darius Smith has suggested his top three schools and MU is not on the list.

Boone

MU wants a bigger guard, so signs point to 6'4" DeAndre Kane.

Marquette_g

So who are the names that are still out there for 2009 with MU as a possibility?

DeAndre Kane
Sherrod Wright - although I thought he had moved on
Victor Rudd
Glenn Bryant

Anyone have any updates on where we stand and if over-signing still looks like a realistic possibility?

Boone

Kane and Bryant are still very much in the picture...the others, no. Our #1 priority is a guard, so I'm sure we'll use Hazel's scholarship to get one. If we have another opening then I'd bet we land Bryant.

VwArrior1

Rivals has Kane's stats for his senior year and he averages 33.1 ppg, is shooting 53% on his 3's, and averages 11 rpg as a guard WOW.  http://marquette.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=86201

I believe MU also remains involved, if not a finalist, for Xavier Blount, 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Virginia Beach. He put up solid numbers in Va. (23 ppg, 7 rpg) after moving there following an all-state season as a junior in New Mexico.

Hards Alumni

Still a rumor, but he hasn't sniffed PT for a long long time.

and frankly, he doesn't really belong on the team.

VwArrior1

It would only get worse for him with our depth now at the forward and center positions

Boone

Pakuni, Blount's a new name to me. Where'd you see we were recruiting him?

Big Papi

I think Latavious Williams is still a possibility.

I'm pretty sure I first read about it here.

That would be an absolute coup if somehow Buzz would get L. Williams. He's 6-9 C/PF who plays on Junior's HS team. Saw him at the Al last winter. He's the real deal, someone who could make an immediate impact.

MU Chi_IL

Does anyone know the story with Latavious Williams, how he ended up at school with JR?  And has he qualified?

From the wiki
"He is expected to enroll at Progressive Christian in Maryland for 2008-09 in order to qualify academically. "
