ESPN2 is in HD but the BS version of HD where the picture is cropped.

Well then I dont know the answer, but I know I am frustrated when it says ESPN 2 HD and it is the samll box and if you try to exapand it it like you say clearly aint HD

If you have TimeWarner, look at your box; easy way to tell if it is "true" HD.

ESPN2 is usually only in 720p and the box has little sections that light up when something is in 1080i, 720p, etc.

The ESPN trucks are contracted and sometimes the cost of getting a HD truck to middle-of-nowhere-ville is just too great compared to a closer SD truck.  Scheduling conflicts also occur.

ESPN doesn't buy trucks and neither does Big Ten Network.  They all contract with the same pool of truck vendors.  The only exception to that that I know of is NBA on TNT ... Turner owns their own trucks as I recall.

I, too am an HD snob.  It annoys me that ESPN has horrible week night football games in HD but has so few college hoops games.

For all of the ripping of the BTN it has every game in HD.  If you cover your ears it is a really nice broadcast.

Has MU had any games broadcast in HD?  I literally cannot watch games on channel 41. It is like watching TV in 1970.

Less on price, more on scheduling, but price is somewhat impacted on where the truck has to go.  No sense in having a truck in location X for a Sat game, sending it out to Y for Tues then back to X for Fri (unless X and Y are really close).  Just find a cheaper truck that's closer.

I do agree, however, that a prime-time Tuesday game on ESPN[2] should be in HD.  Part of it I believe is the sheer number of college games that occur on a daily basis.

I know I am dating myself, but back in the 60's we longed for the games to be in color. Now it's HD. However watching a game in black & white back then was not as bad as watching a standard definition game today that is so badly compressed you can hardly make out the numbers on the players jerseys. There are days I think I need new bifocals.
