What are the rules if Buzz pulled his team off the court and refused to play because of safety concerns?  I assume it is an MU loss, but I am not sure.

TallTitan34

I can't believe a T wasn't given between fans on the court and Xavier yelling "that's f***in bullcrap" at the refs.

Detfan23

Yup, I think the Big East, Providence, and the crappy security team all need to release statements on the incident.  Something needs to be done because that was crazy.

ecompt

Xavier should be suspended a game for trying to incite a riot. What an a-hole.

jficke13

he was pissed, but suspend him a game? nah' he overreacted. he's a competitor. since no one was really hurt, i think everyone is making a bigger deal out of it than it really is.

Brewtown Andy

Can the Big East fine Providence for this happening in their building?

I don't think you can suspend Xavier over the incident, but it is indeed a very big deal. It's fortunate that nobody was hurt, but it's a dangerous situation that easily could have been prevented had security not dozed off (and, frankly, had the Providence bench done something other than sit in place dumbfounded while a fan stepped over them to get on the court).

Coincidentally, there was a bit on ESPN's Sports Reporters about Monica Seles' induction to the tennis hall of fame and how a similar incident (i.e. security doing nothing while an angry fan stepped onto the area of play) prevented her from being arguably the best of all time. It's great that Jonathan Xavier was merely an idiot, and not a knife-wielding maniac, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a bad situation that probably could have been avoided with some more diligence on behalf of Providence and the arena staff.

Big Papi

My guess is that the Big East will force all its members to re-examine their security procedures.  Some will need to bolster and train security staff to do a better job so this does not happen again.

I have to imagine the conference will be talking to PU and he Dunkin Center staff to make sure his never happens again.

The BC staff would have not let the fan get past the PU bench, and if he did, I would imagine he would have been forcefully restrained before he reached the lane.

It's Providence College. Providence College. PC. PC. Providence College Friars. :)

If people don't know that from their proud history they should at least know that after four years in the same conference. The old school already looks down on the new members. No need to add ammo to that perception, no matter how trivial it may be.

To the original questions, I would guess it would be a forfeit.
