Can't help but notice that some posters are registered users while others are not.  What is the difference and how does one become a registered user?  What are the benfits of being/not being a registered user?

Thanks.

Registered users can participate in the forums while Guests can only read them.

then anyone posting should have "registered guest" above their name?

Not sure where you are seeing the term "registered guest".

If you signed up (registered) for an account on here (i.e. you have a username/password) then you are a User.
Otherwise you are a guest.

Guests can only read the site (posts, wiki pages, etc.).  Users can do everything else including make posts, send PMs, edit the wiki, etc.).

Some users show a "Registered User" tag on their profile or the summary profile just to the left of a post.  If that is what you are talking about then there's no difference - it's just a database thing I need to clean up one way or another.

make sense?
