What recruits really care about...

from a Georgia football recruit...
"Mark Richt, Coach Garner, and the entire staff stood out to me. Georgia is just Georgia. It is a football school, the location is great, and the girls don't look too bad either."

Maybe this is why we'll never get the top recruits!   ;D  I know it's gotten better over the last 10 years but we've still got a long way to go!!

Get those ice cream machines out of the cafe or we are never going to win another title!!!!!!!

some floormates from the 9th floor of Tower (hence the nickname), after a few beers on a Friday afternoon (what are the odds), stole the scoops from the ice cream machine at Cobeen not once, but twice, sat them in the middle of our table 10 feet from the freezer, and waited for some girl with enough nerve to come take them back.  We waited an hour.   None could muster the nerve.  They used spoons, other bowls, and multiple trips to a cafeteria worker, but none would take them back.   Ahhh, Fridays after a few cervezas.   Mmmmmmm.    Are extra-long sweatshirts still the fashion statement for the typical Marquette girl?

Scoops? I only remember soft serve machines with a cone or bowl.

In the 80's they would have freezers with the tubs of real ice cream like at a ice creams shop.  Mint Chip, cookies and cream, etc. I have no idea when they discontinued this.   Why they discontinued it probably has to do with germs and drunk, sophomoric pranks.

no no no...  it is getting better, and I do not like sheep... however, everytime I go home to the Milwaukee area, I wonder why I came out here.

You are the first person to ever be thankful for Milwaukee girls.  Every time I go to Milwaukee, I realize how thankful I am to be living in Chicago.  I can only imagine how much better the south is. (sigh)

Believe it or not...

I lived in a house known to throw a party or two in our day.  Some big name recruits were urged (by the MU coaching staff) to make their way to our house during their visits.  I would know the day after the party if the recruit would be wearing Blue and Gold that next year pending on any 'special treatment' supplied by one of the ladies in attendance.  We tried everything to help out one recruit in particular but I guess even girls have standards!!  I sure wish we had him this year as he is finally starting to play well at an opposing University. I can't get into specifics...but the stories I could tell!!

Just be thankful we didn't go to Michigan. I went to the Packer game with a few guys from UofM and they actually said "Wisconsin [Green Bay, mind you] has some really good-looking women." Granted, this was near halftime after a few hours of tailgating and the annihilation of 2+ handles of Kessler's the night before, but know that it could be worse.

On a related note, MU experienced a major influx of 'talent' over the span of my 4years as an undergrad. Exponentially better looking as a whole, and the ladies in my class aged quite well.  ;)

Please no memories of the sweatshirts and those perms.  No more!
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Do you know the difference between a madison lesbian and a regular lesbian?  ...forty pounds and a flannel shirt.

tower912

How about oversized Benetton sweaters over stirrup pants?  To go with the half bottle of shellack they put in their hair to make it look "natural" but feel crunchy?

Q: why are they considering to install artificial turf in Camp Randal Stadium in Madison?

A:  to stop the cheerleaders from grazing.

A joke from my era:   Why do Marquette men drink so much?   Marquette women.

And I remember the girls would cram glasses filled to the brim with ice cream, then put a smidge of TAB in it for a TAB float. I guess they didn't want that extra 20 calories from a normal coke!

tower912

Or have a big salad with lo-cal dressing they brought down from their dorm rooms, and a couple glasses of diet coke.   They would sit and chat for a few minutes and then the parade to the ice cream scoops would begin.

I used to work at the front desk in McCormick and would have to see this progression all year.  These girls would be rail thin at move in and then everyday they walk past the desk with their huge ice cream cones.  By move out day, there looked like twice as many girls moving out, mainly because some of the girls were twice as big as when they moved it.  i do remember a poster in the front window of a Madison store that said... freshman, get before they're fat.  i thought it was hilarious.

thats also due to many people work out and play sports in high school, and then stop when they get to college, that happens at every school, just have to find the girl at the gym :)
