What would you be doing if you were Michigan State's athletic director right now?

If I were in his shoes, I would start the search now before the coaching carousel settles down.  I would want to start exploring post-Izzo options.  I would have a plan.  I would not want to be caught like a deer in the headlights by this.

I'm sure Buzz Williams is in the top 5.

The Phoenix Suns coach is often mentioned as he has a history there I believe.  Jud will have some say in who gets it, and that's why TC never would have gotten the MSU job.  Jud does not care for TC at all.

I'd just ask izzo what asistant would be most suited for the job.

How great would this be?!

Imagine the possibilities...Izzo leaves, Crean regrets decision but it doesn't matter as he wasn't going to get the job anyways.

Tyshawn Taylor signs with Kansas, confirming what we already knew: that scholarship is open.

Korie Lucious decides that he doesn't want to go to Michigan St anymore. We conveniently have a spot open for him.

Jamil Wilson, upon Izzo's departure, crosses Mich St. off his list. Lucious, stays in his ear all season and in March 2009, Wilson decides to stay close to home and play at Marquette with his good friend.

....alright, back to reality for me.

You forgot the teal coloring there to indicate sarcasm...or did you?

One thing Michigan State wouldn't have to worry about in this situation is Izzo poaching their recruits.

Ok, so I talked to my Bulls guy (only one left from when I worked there) and he said there are talks going on through third parties between the Bulls and Izzo. He thinks it would be in the $4-$5 mil range, with some additional title included (besides head coach) if it's formally offered. He said if it happens, it will happen very quickly by the end of this week.

The Bulls also reached out to Coach K, but there isn't much interest there (or so I'm told).

Interesting. I thought that this was just a play by Izzo to get more $$$$$$$$$ out of MSU. I'd be happy with Izzo as the coach of the Bulls. Now if we can just get D-Wade back in Chicago!

That Tommy was ever the heir apparent at MSU is a joke!   Just check out his recruiting success in Michigan while at Marquette.  The word was out in Michigan about Tommy once Dwayne Stevens (?), the MSU assistant coach, who came with Tommy to MU went back to Lansing.  No "smear" here, just the facts.  I think there is an obligation to speak the truth since Tommy didn't and few know him as well as we do.

Lets hope that Izzo is offered and he takes the Bulls job.  That could be very good news for MU.  First, Jamil Wilson might cross off Michigan St. from his list and second seeing that we have one available scholarship, there could be a chance that Korie Lucious asks out of Michigan St. and who knows, ends up with MU.  I thought I read somewhere that Korie and Jamil are good friends on top of that.  This could be huge!
