What is the pay like for assistant coaches?  Or more specifically, what does Marquette pay assistants---to Director of Basketball Ops?

It seems like a little more can land you a top flight assistant, is that accurate?

There were reports that Buzz was making $200k last year as an assistant, which is probably pretty high.

Gillespie and buzz are both on the record as saying that Gillespie offered more money for Buzz to join him in Kentucky, but Buzz took the MU job instead - which has turned out pretty well for him.

He might sound a little slow, but if you want to be a Heac Coach, do you follow someone you've already worked for who just took a new position, or do you go work for someone that's rumored to be on the move every April?

There was a thread discussing Buzz's salary recently, and someone found an assistant making $350k, which seemed to be the highest anyone could find.  I'd guess a reasonable range might be anywhere from $50k-$350k.

I think it was KO, and he made just north of $400k last year to ruin his chances of succeeding Olsen at Arizona.

Here's a quote from the Albuquerque Journal concerning one of Alford's assistants who also got an extended contract when UNM recently gave Alford another 3 years:

"Assistants are typically hired on a year-to-year basis, based on the head coach's decision. Krebs (UNM AD) said there will be discussion about whether to give Neal an extension.
Neal was also Alford's top assistant at Iowa. It's rare for a college basketball assistant to have a multi-year contract, especially more than two years. Neal is also one of the highest, if not the highest paid, assistant in the country at about $250,000 a year."

no matter what they make, it will be too much for PRN and some others.   ::)

That would be me.   KO was the highest and then the guy at New Mexico.  There were a few others north of of $200K as well that I found.  For a program in the Big East, it will usually be about $70K to $150K depending on the level, but some will go higher.
