Quote from: Uncle Rico on April 27, 2026, 12:27:03 PMI'm pretty bullish on Eian Elmer and they added Owen Foxwell, a pretty good 22-year old "freshmen".  I think the backcourt will be fine.  Maybe not as dynamic as Boyd/Blackwell but good enough to finish top half of the Big 18 and sniff a protected seed.  Defense will still suck but they'll be fine.

Hoping they won't be fine, especially on Dec. 5, but you're probably right.

We're really using the "Rico NCAA tournament coaching standard" now?

So will win our next championship in 2085.

I'm actually Danny Hurley

Edit: Though I'll say, if Gard was at Marquette with that record the last 9 years, scoop would be at the same meltdown level it has been since November.
It's only a few pennies

Quote from: MU82 on April 27, 2026, 12:19:02 PMThen again, for all the (deserved) sh!t Gard gets here, his teams often do better than expected ... for a while, at least. He's won 3 more NCAA Tournament games in the last 9 years than you have, while appearing in the exact same number of second weekends.
Now do last 8 years.

Huh? Instead of saying, "He's won 3 more NCAA Tournament games in the last 9 years than you have, while appearing in the exact same number of second weekends," one would have said, "He's won 3 more NCAA Tournament games in the last 8 years than you have, while appearing in the exact same number of second weekends."

Both would have been accurate, though the second doesn't really paint a different picture at all.

False.

In last 8 years, UW has 4 NCAAT wins, no second weekends, while MU has 3 wins, one second weekend.

False.

2018: Missed NCAAT
2019: Lost in first round to Oregon
2020: Covid; no NCAAT
2021: Won first round vs UNC, lost second round to Baylor
2022: Won first round vs Colgate, lost second round to Iowa State
2023: Missed NCAAT
2024: Lost first round to James Madison
2025: Won first round vs Montana, lost second round to BYU
2026: Lost first round to High Point

Whether you look at 8 or 9 years, it's still 3 NCAAT wins and no second weekends. Five of the losses were to lower seeds (Oregon, Iowa State, James Madison, BYU, High Point). Just Greg Gard always getting it done.

You're welcome.

OK, I misunderstood your point.  Thought you were comparing Gard to Shaka, not to Rico.  LOL.

Shaka's got his own problems! (And his own successes.)

Quote from: Scoop Snoop on April 27, 2026, 11:51:49 AMYeah, it's a "make believe" top 40 but they are at #34. Just saw Creighton at #33. Let's hope that our home game vs. them in December gives some credibility to the MU/UW spread shown here.

And Xavier at 36
