Tempo: As fast as possible. Can't score in halfcourt so get as many points in transition as possible.

This is where I am at.  Really happy for the team.  The players needed a win in the worst way.

And they kind of got it in the worst way.

Great night for the players. Very happy for them. Tough night for the scoop a-holes, with Willie leading the way.

I think you posted 8 in total for the season, not conference.  I will go one more crazy... I say we win 9 games this year.  We will win 4 conference games.  Not going to predict which games but we will get hot from three a couple of games which will gets us a surprise win or two.

I'm not so sure about this but understand your initial thought.   In one of the huddles Shaka was imploring our guys to slow down.  Nigel is obviously comfortable going Speedy Gonzalez and Chase has jets off the ball.  But he's not good playing fast in the half-court.  Meanwhile Royce, Ben, and others aren't exactly adept at playing fast.  You may still be right that if our tempo was slower we'd be even worse, but I think it's open to discussion.

This is a bit of a double edged sword. Transition is our most effective points per possession method of scoring (1.14 ppp) but we're only 21st percentile in scoring that way, while in the 91st percentile in rate of transition attempts. So we really can't get much more transition than we're getting, and relative to competition, we're pretty bad scoring that way.

I worry about this team hurrying more when they are already struggling so much with at-the-rim shots. Seems it would only make us more reckless and less efficient.

Agree completely. It is simply not logical to expect that "hurrying" will improve our chances. Even when one of MU's players gets near the basket before a defender closes in, a blown shot is too often the result. ::)

One thing I'll say about our transition offense is there have been a multitude of times with a 2-on-1 or 3-on-2 break where there was an obvious pass for what would likely be a layup or dunk (although I guess we can't count on that with this squad), and instead the player takes it himself for a contested layup that is often missed.

And these haven't been instances that would have required a high-difficulty pass to convert.

Just so many things about this season have been mind-boggling.  Just a lot of low IQ basketball that defies explanation.
