Sometimes you see a chart that is so insane, you can't just move on. That was me with Chase this morning. He's in a huge offensive rut and I wanted to see what it looked like under the hood a bit.

As for what is Impact Score, it's Hoop-Explorer's game RAPM score, which regularizes plus minus for players on the court and then adds in box score priors.
10+ All American
8+ All Conference
6+ Starter
4+ Rotation
2+ Bench
0 and below: Sub replacement level

I add the score each game and get a sum above. Full dashboard here.

QuoteI gather the game by game Impact Scores and tally them up in an interactive dashboard.

The chart for Big East play impact has to be seen to be believed.

Perhaps it would have been better to throw away the data as irrelevant rather than using it then...

Coupled with awful shooting percentages, his turnovers (for a non-point guard) are momentum killers.

Thanks for taking the time to dig deeper on Chase as it's been a point of discussion.

Truly eye opening just how horrendous he's been in conference play - kind of defies explanation.

A bad team certainly isn't going to win many conference games when your pre-season first team guy is playing like one of the worst players in the country.

Preface: I don't know ball

I thought Chase's performance this season -compared to prior season success - was pretty easily explained.

1. He isn't surrounded by all American or all conference teammates.

2. He's not an all American talent.

3. He's not a very good point guard/good with the ball in his hands as a focal point of the defense.

It's been painful to watch. The Seton Hall breakaway was the story in a nutshell.

It is really concerning that our Stud has fallen off considerably as the year went on two years in a row - obviously Chase's fall happened much faster and went much further.

Chase I think is feeling the pressure as he was the lead heir apparent to the team as a leader, scorer etc. And I think that has gotten to him a bit.   He. An snap out of it
