Alien Earth on Hulu is so so awesome

TallTitan34

We just started The Paper which is a spinoff of The Office.

I think I like it but there is one character they need to get rid of.

We are two episodes in. Haven't found it very entertaining so far but my wife likes it so I'll see it through and see if it gets better.

We just finished season one tonight. I enjoyed it more as the season went on but Esmeralda hurts the show. They could just have Ken be the foil.

Mare is Jim Halpert but the cast reminds me more of Parks and Rec characters than The Office. Aside from Oscar obviously.

If I'm right about who you're thinking of...give it a bit of time. We felt the same way. The character grew on us over time and has some of the funniest stuff down the road. When you think about it, Dwight was ridiculously over the top too.

We're enjoying it.

As the season progressed, we came around on Esmeralda.

I agree with that.  She can be over-the-top like Dwight and have cringey moments like Michael. But they also made Dwight and Michael likable characters.  I haven't found anything likeable about her yet.

Maybe just tone her down a bit in the second season.

Wanted to see what the hullabaloo was about, so my wife and I binge-watched The Studio. Really, really funny. By far my favorite Seth Rogen enterprise, and well-deserved of the Emmy love.

True, which made it a shoo-in for the awards. But it's also funny. Both can be true.

South Park episode 5 was funny as hell.

The Studio was good, but Platonic is actually my favorite Rogan vehicle.  He and Rose Byre are both hilarious in their own right and its some of the best comedic writing Ive seen in awhile, there are so many little gags and quirks that have my wife and I cackling.  Season 1 was good, Season 2 took it up another notch

We think Platonic is just OK. We laughed our butts off many times while watching The Studio.

That's why they make lots of different shows - something for everybody!

Been watching Netflix' The Lazarus Project.  It's a solid B+.

It's a mix between Edge of Tomorrow and Groundhog Day (although not a comedy at all.)   Interesting time-travel series, repeating the same time periods multiple times.

Tried both. Seth Rogan was the same character as in every show he has been in. Quit both shows early on.

I'm generally not the biggest Rogan fan, either. As mentioned earlier, I thought The Studio was his best by far. I liked most of the supporting characters/actors a lot.

Understandable. I'm not a big Jason Seagal fan either, but thought Shrinking was one of the better shows on TV.

Been watching NOVA's "Human" series on PBS the past couple of weeks. (Actually watching the episodes when posted to YouTube.)

The episode on homo sapiens encounters with Neanderthals was way more interesting than I thought it was going to be.

Love is Blind is back! Slow Horses is back! Just finished my favorite show on tv, Love on the Spectrum.

My brother told me I must watch Black Rabbit.

I just watched the documentary Just. One. Mile. A grueling ultra running race with interesting characters, and, you guessed it, a one mile course.

Loving me some Slow Horses!

In the Apple+ film CODA (Children of Deaf Adults) the deaf dad tells this riddle to his hearing daughter:

You know why farts smell?

So deaf people can enjoy them too.

Black Rabbit was fun.  I enjoyed House of Guinness more.  Dramatized retelling of some of the history of the Guinness brewery and family around the 1860s.  Its from the creator of Peaky Blinders so it definitely has that same feel.  Modern intense music and aesthetic around a period piece.  A lot of fun.

Slow Horses is so incredibly consistent.  They churn out these seasons so fast but don't skimp on quality.  And the dark humor gets better and better each season.

Also, seeing a decent number of interviews with Gary Oldman lately, including a few on more laid back, non-film industry intense podcasts...Jackson Lamb actually has a lot of his real life personality.  Hes a legitimately very funny guy, dry sense of humor, self deprecating, etc...  Which watching Lamb makes its even more fun.

I watched/listened to a big soccer podcast from the UK that had him on, talking about his love for Man Utd and history as a fan, among other things.  All of them were ball busting and Oldman was dissolving into hysteric giggles constantly.  But listen to some of the sarcastic quips and then watching an ep of Slow Horses that night made it click.
