Sean, pre injury:  Explosive athlete.  Stretches of really good on ball defense.  Great ball handler, un-pressable.  Clutch.  An ideal change of pace PG.

Exploitable on switches.  Too frequently guarding post players.  Not a great shooter. Could get into the lane at will, but couldn't always finish or find his teammates once he was in the trees.

TKo was in a funk when Sean got hurt.  Sean was dominating the ball and TKo was not happy playing off of it.

Now, 11 months later, what is a fair expectation?  A better finisher?  More in sync and better at finding teammates?  Take advantage of less switching?  Able to let Kam play off the ball?

Be fair to the kid.  Let him recover at his own pace. He will be a helpful piece, but I do not see him playing 20 mpg any time soon.  I will be happy if he is able to return.

Fair expectation to me is better shooter, probably a step back on everything else.    He could start getting shots up much more quickly than he could be doing most other b-ball activities and I expect that he/the staff used that time wisely.

Quote from: Hards Alumni on December 15, 2024, 02:25:28 PMI didn't want to say it.  He's not the savior some here think he is going to be.  He's a minor upgrade from Norman.

He is not a savior by any means but he is exponentially better at point guard than Tre.  Sean has had several games where he made an impact with big shots (UCLA), Mississippi State (albeit a loss), Kansas etc.  He can dribble against pressure which Tre cannot do.  Tre has also shown very little ability to drive into the paint and get to the rim something Sean has been able to do and likely would even be better at by now had he not been injured. Although not a great three point shooter he looks infinitely more competent than Tre as well.

There is no comparison between the two IMO and Sean would be an upgrade in a hurry over Tre assuming he can get his sea legs.

We don't need him to be a savior either.  We need another point guard to spell Kam who can handle the ball.

100% spot on.  Sean has meaningfully contributed to winning in many games he's played.  He's a spark plug.  I want Tre to have success but we've yet to see him come into a game and just be a disruptor/have a big impact.  Wisconsin game was probably his best game at MU.  That aside, he definitely isn't a break down the D type of guard. Sean was able to get into the paint almost at will, and was very comfortable against full court pressure.

There are games/matchups where Sean will be really valuable.  Posh Alexander would have been an example of a good matchup where he would have helped with some minutes.  Kind of like what Kamari McGee is doing with UW@Madison.  Really useful at certain times, in certain games, certain matchups.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

I agree 83.  I also agree with Tower that he likely will not be the same guy right away and we will need to give him time.  He was not even close to a finished product before the injury.  But as you stated his skill set will give Shaka extra tools to work with and that can only help. If it's not to be this year that's ok.
