Hooray, hooray the 16th Annual Freedom From Crean Day is here. Time to celebrate and give thanks. Take a day off from school or work and rejoice. He's the network's problem now. Our alma mater is rid of the rabid, multiple personality, bathtub ring, aka Coach Tom Crean. Hallelujah, aina?

I'm just grateful Crean was here in the first place. While Deane thought we should be happy to be a mid-major program, Crean brought in Wade, got us to the Final Four, guided us into the Big East, brought in the Amigos, and laid the foundation for Buzz and beyond that paved the road for all the successes we have had over the past 20+ years. Without Crean, we may still be in C-USA or the American dreaming of a Big East invite while the Dayton program they invited in our place looks down their nose at us.

Thanks, Coach Crean! He's 4ever a Marquette legend!

Best hires in Marquette history:  Al McGuire, Kevin O'Neill, Tom Crean, Shaka Smart.

Each had to build from a down period and were critical in building / rebuilding the program.

Crean was good for Marquette while he was here, but it was time for him to leave.  He left MU basketball in a better place then he found it.

What are the odds Crean is a head coach again?  He seems to enjoy the analyst/commentator role, but he seems like someone that can't be without coaching for too long.  Surprised his name wasn't mentioned with any of the openings this cycle (had thought perhaps SLU would have been interested).

I think he is done.  Run out of IU.   Poor results at Georgia.   No longer the young up and comer.   And, if he wanted his name out there, it would be.

SLU is going to be fine with the ISU coach. They had him bagged early.

If Crean wants to coach again, he will have to go down a level. Not sure he is interested. He's made a lot of money and is probably doing OK with ESPN.

Also I think we should realize that the guy who brought a ton of energy to the gig when he started here 20+ years ago is not the guy now. There were times at Georgia that I thought he was done mentally.

My biggest problem with Crean was, making the Final 4 and helping get the program into the Big East proved Billy Packer wrong and I'd rather be right than admit I was wrong.
