Who would of thought that after 7 years of WOJO, and BB seasons that seemed to go nowhere except down, that MU wold now be part of the national conversation. What Coach Smart - and I use that with complete reverence - has done is way beyond my expectations, and anyone else's for that matter. With the exception of J-Lew, Elliott, and OSO, he's taken so many new players and molded them into a TEAM that are fun to watch, and scaring the crap out of everyone that will play MU (who beats NOVA twice in the same year in the BE?). He's the perfect example of just how important a BB coach is, and that WOJO could never do what Coach Smart is doing...just completely different levels of coaching knowledge, player evaluation and assessment, in-game decisions, and accountability. Picked to finish 9th in the BE, he should be coach of the year in the BE and be in the national conversation for coach of the year. And, it's never about him, always the TEAM. Easily could have beaten the Friars, and can beat the Huskies on the road, and do hope they kick arrogant Dan Hurley's BUTT. Love what he's doing, and MU should get out the contract extension papers ASAP!

The coach is responsible for the players he puts on the floor. This team has players with way more toughness than Wojo's players. Buzz's players were also way tougher than Wojo's.

And Wojo's players are tougher under Shaka.

Buzz's teams were tough and entertaining. I remember AL saying," we don't hear anyone's sneakers, they hear our's - we are Marquette"  His teams were tough. Games with Minnesota coached by Bill Musselman were like bloody street fights.

The one who extended wojo how many times? And was "close to tears" when announcing his firing? I say no.

Scholl has had some incredible hires. Theis for volleyball, Duffy for womens basketball and now Shaka.

The fact that he was close to tears when he fired Wojo but did it anyway makes me like him even more.

There is a reason why Dawson Garcia left... He was to soft to play under Shaka.
