[Paint Touches] Adjusting expectations (and other fun stuff)
« on: November 20, 2021, 12:54:45 PM »
I had MU going 1-3 this week... Being so wrong has never felt so good.

The question is, what can we extrapolate from the positive results and how high have expectations risen?

Fair.  It has been a rapturous start.   The. more MU plays, the. more film there is.  The better the scout gets.  What are the adjustments going to be?     The really good news is that the start gives MU a cushion come tourney time.   It has brought joy to all.
Get some more popcorn.

Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be and he will become as he can and should be.

Consistently low expectations enabled 7 years of failure (with some wanting more). This team is clearly capable of an NCAAT appearance so we should be calibrating our expectations accordingly. Setting your expectations artificially low so you can avoid a feeling of disappointment is a loser mentality.

In my humble opinion.

Unless you can get the defense to jump on Kolek's long passes, I am not sure how you can defend this team.
They pretty much are willing to take any shot and I am not sure how you defend that. You just got to hope they miss enough. MU's biggest weakness appears to be rebounding.

My expectations have changed. I still believe UCLA is going to beat us, but I no longer think Wisconsin will beat us.

I had us in the 20-24 win and getting a bid and still feel that way. Big believer in a system and guys being into it and looks like mission accomplished on that front. I still feel they finish in top five in BE and are not a bubble team on selection day.

What are the adjustments going to be?

Well at least now, the opponents won't be doing all the adjusting. Shaka has made more adjustments in five games than the Prince from Duke made in seven years.
