This is a good question actually.

Are they willing to expand the All American list this year to account for all of the talent that Shaka brought in? I can't imagine leaving any single one of them off of the AA list, and if you argue against me you're a Badger fan.
Ha!  Well, our coaches have regularly brought in 3 and 4 star recruits, with an occasional 5.   But mostly 3s and 4s.  And that's what Shaka is doing.  3s and 4s.  We are just hoping his 3s and 4s are underrated and will perform better with his leadership.  Hoping.

For me with Kuath, it's about fit. 1.9 ppp in transition (100th percentile) is awesome for a guy that should be getting more transition opportunities. Oklahoma's 2PFG% defense was 8.3% better with him on the floor, which shows his interior defensive capability, and the team also had a lower free throw rate (18.6% to 27.7%) with him on the floor which likely means teams were taking fewer high percentage shots at the rim because of his presence.

He's not an All-American, but he's a rim protector that has a clear defensive impact and excels in getting out in transition, so he knows his role. It feels like he's everything we hoped Ike Eke would've been.

I feel another valid question for a lot of the NoJo's and people who are critical of last year's players would be how many games have they seen the 20-21 players play in this past year??

I feel a lot of people critical of Theo hadn't actually seen him play much this past year.  Not that he is without his flaws... but to hear some people describe it is a whole different level.

I haven't been overly critical of Theo, but let's not pretend he was something he wasn't.  Looked like Tarzan, played like Jane most of the time.  And, BTW, I saw every game he played in a Marquette uniform.  It was time to move on.

Vander Blue Man Group

Kuath averaged 17.2 minutes last year.  Fouls didn't seem to be an issue (1.5/game).  I know this will likely depend on if Dawson is back but do people expect his MPG to fall in the 17-20 range?  Or is their a scenario where he's playing 25 MPG?

Like you said, it depends on Dawson. I expect Lewis and Dawson to start if he comes back with Kuath being one of the first players off the bench. If he doesn't, I expect Lewis and Kuath to start.

I am going with option c: Dawson is the wing, Justin the 4, Kuath the 5.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I think it will be difficult to play all three of them together.  Unless Lewis is a completely different defensive player as a Soph.

If all 3 played together it would be Justin on the wing.

I don't think there will be much of that though.

I think you're just going off size there. Dawson's more suited for the wing with Justin more suited for the 4.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Both Justin and Dawson would get absolutely torched by any remotely decent wing in the Big East.  I honestly think if all 3 of those guys are on the court at the same time, Kuath would have the best chance at defending the perimeter.  But then you're taking him away from his rim protection, which he offers far more of than Dawson and Justin as well.

I can't see a defense first coach like Shaka putting either Lewis or Dawson on the wing unless they vastly improve

Neither were good at protecting the ball and I would cringe when they started to dribble inside the arc.

I think it is very unlikely Dawson is back.

I wouldn't say very unlikely... but I certainly wouldn't put money on him returning

I think you definitely missed something.

At this point, I'd be really surprised if Dawson returned.  He has been away from the team (and Milwaukee in general) since the season ended - I get that he's "prepping for the combine", but I just have a feeling that there's more to it than that.  Someone on here posted that he ran into him on the beach in Florida just a week or so ago, so it's not as if he's in the training lab 24/7.  Couple that with his overall radio silence since Shaka's hiring and it just seems as if he's moving on.  He's the type of player that could enter the transfer portal very late and still find a good landing spot, if that's how it shakes out for him.

I also think that Greg isn't going to count as a scholarship next season for one of two reasons:  either he's granted a waiver for this to be this to be his covid year, or he's physically done playing basketball but remains as part of the team (a la Ike).  His arm in a sling in those recent videos is concerning.

Hmm.... not the portal, but DJ is gone.

WHOA, REALLY!??

I appreciate the snark.  However, I believe he was pointing out he said Carton and Lewis may be gone, and Skip said he was missing something.

Fair enough, I was more reacting to the linking of the article like it wasn't well known  :o
