Local article on Utah search. Wojo needs to get his agent to contact the AD to get in the process.

The most interesting part of the article to me is the first paragraph, where it says Utah tried to reach an agreement with Krystowiak to step down in an amicable fashion.  Does this just mean they tried to get him to accept a lower buyout, and in turn the story would be spun that school and coach mutually parted ways?  Might it be possible for MU to do something like that with Wojo?

If Wojo and MU were to announce that they mutually agreed to part ways, unless he ended up at another P6 job within a week, is there ANYONE who would actually think that the decision was really mutual?  Wojo knows that.  If I were Wojo, I would not take a penny less that what was contractually agreed upon to get fired.  We may not like the results, but its not like he was mailing it in.  I think he was/is doing his level best.

Yeah...that's the really sad part. It's also why Marquette needs to just tear off the band-aid.

I’m guessing MU is at the point where if Wojo came to them with another job offer, they’d easily waive the buyout.  And hire movers.  And ship his golf clubs.  And transfer his cable / internet.  And forward his mail. And pay his outstanding tab at NSCC.  And fly him there.  And return his Bergstrom SUVs and pay for the excess mileage.

I'd like to think Woj would take less to pursue a more user friendly job. It can't be much fun knowin' 98% of Scoopdom wants to hang you out a 20 story window by your nutsack, aina?

If one is hanging by one's nutsack, does the height above the ground really matter? Is dangling 200 feet off the ground really any worse than dangling 10 feet off the ground in this scenario?

There is a lot to be said for being content somewhere there is less pressure. Ask guys like Mark Few, Bob McKillop and Porter Moser.

However, I don't know anything about the pressure to win at Utah. Maybe it's as much or more than at Marquette. They've been to a Final Four. They're in a P5 conference. Maybe UteScoop is even dopier than we are.

Yes. If I was dangling by my nutsack, I'd wanna be up high enough to knock me unconscious the moment I hit the ground. Not sure 10 feet would necessarily do the trick....

This message board is no “dopier” than any other major conference school’s.  Let’s say Wojo somehow took a deal where he mutually parted ways with MU and went back to Duke as the coach-in-waiting.  The Duke fan base would be apoplectic and their Athletic Department would be flooded with calls from angry boosters and season ticket holders.  Right now, Wojo is Liz Taylor in the 60s—certified box office poison.

Where is the pressure to win at Marquette with current admin? If there was pressure he would be gone by now. It is apparent Wojo is back because he would have been released by now.

Pressure at most private / no football schools is about 10% the pressure of a big state school.

Ask the DA in LA Confidential when Russel Crowe had him hanging out his office window, pretty close to his nutsack. Or ask Johnny Stompanato when Crowe did have him by the nutsack for the correct info he wanted.

I was responding to this:

So I guess Doc Dribble thinks Marquette is not "user-friendly" because 98% of this site wants to ... um ... see him go.

All I commented on was Utah's version of Scoop, not either school's administration.

Although you might be right about lack of pressure on Wojo from the MU administration, Krystkowiak apparently faced even less at Utah.

In his first 9 seasons there, Krystkowiak had zero conference titles and 2 NCAA tourney appearances (and, unlike MU, Utah wasn't gonna go last year). He went 33-29 in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons combined ... and yet he was brought back for 2020-21 -- his 10th season.

That's a pretty chill administration.
