From Fifth Factor Plots:

I was shocked at MU's placement-on both accounts.

Just remember that a small logo means a smaller data set.

I don't think it's particularly surprising because we rarely get a "good shot'" in our offensive sets.

Mugsy, this says we are good shooters who take good shots.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

I guess I read it wrong.  That is surprising but also an example if stats being flawed.  This is not a team with consistent shooters.

Here is a better graphic broken down by conference. I wonder if there is an error.

I mean, just look at the last game. Probably 5-6 wide-open looks for 40% 3-point shooters Cain, Elliott and Garcia.

It doesn't "absolve" Wojo of anything, but sooner or later, players need to do their jobs too!

True but on the other hand there were some big shots made that got us in a position to at least tie the game instead of getting blown out. The 3 by Carton and a couple Koby shots come to mind. But, yes, if Cain hits just one of those.....

Hard to take & make a good shot when you turn it over.

Scoring has rarely been a problem under Wojo. Turnovers + mediocre to bad defense have consistently been a problem.

This is 100% correct and why watching a Wojo coached team is tantalizing and maddening.  Sometimes it looks like we can't lose because our offense can look so good and we do anyway because we are not fundamentally sound.

Totally agree. It's like middle-school basketball, where any shot is a good shot because at least it's not a turnover!

This gets pretty darn close to why I was slow to give up on Wojo. The program consistently has potential and teases us, but falls apart under the strain of the basics.

I'm not too surprised to see where we land on that chart. We get pretty good looks, and most of our rotational guys are decent shooters. The real issues for this squad are turnovers and finding a decent plan B when that outside shot isn't there.

The struggle for most of our guys to create their own shot or get to the hoop on a regular basis can be painful when shots aren't falling. Finding a way to change things up a little and see the ball go through the hoop can help turn things around when shots aren't falling or when good looks are hard to come by.

DJ has that ability, and Koby has shown some spurts. If they could be more consistent in getting to the rim, I think it would make a huge difference.

mileskishnish72

Agree. They are about where I expected. Makes you wonder how we got to 9-12. Oh wait, this data apparently only deals with shots - not turnovers or defense.
