When my then 12 year old was getting serious about golf and enjoying it (and after he broke most of his junior set through excessive use) I bought him a set of ladies clubs that didn't say "lady" or have pink grips or anything.  The shafts were a bit more flexible, they were the right length for him, and it really helped him improve.  After about a year, I gave him one of my old shorter length Wilson drivers, but he kept using all the other lady clubs.

Depends on height...but my son was a little below average height and this worked just fine.

Check Global Golf too, their value conditions are generous to say the least.
