Not really. You miss the point. The point is this:

1) Wojo has had 6 years to show us what he can accomplish. He’s performed worse than any coach at MU since Dukiet.   He’s not the answer. Not the guy. You don’t keep a coach for one recruit, even if a 5-star. He’s had a 5 star before. He’s had Markus. We ain’t won jack.

2) We currently have a talented recruiter and sharp assistant coach on the bench, who would give the program the best chance to retain this recruiting class, possibly including Dawson. (Perhaps Brad can ask his friends if Dawson has any relationship/thoughts about Stan?)

 Further he has strong relationships with all kids on current roster, which would likely eliminate any transfers.


I appreciate the information from Brad. It is good to hear. It does not mean, however, that what’s best for the program is to retain Wojo.

I agree with this. Wasn't it Jerry Faust at Notre Dame that recruited very well (not sure that's hard to do at ND) but couldn't win? ND kept him way to long believing he could learn to coach and finally realize the talent of his players.

BTW, this is not meant to endorse Wojo being fired but to support the idea you don't keep a coach to keep recruits.

Turning this into another "Wojo sucks" or "Stan is the messiah" thread is missing the point.  I'm not arguing Wojo has underperformed, he has.  To the Dukiet level? No, but to the Deane level (not talking coaching acumen, I'm talking about results), yes.

Of course a recruit is going to reconsider their decision if the coach they signed to play for leaves. That will be the case every time a coach leaves either on their own volition or being fired.

However, players need to be let out of their NLI’s and generally a school’s newly appointed coach gets a chance to re-recruit the players. I suspect Stan would succeed in re-recruiting Osa for sure, keep Killings, and you keep Lewis too.

I don’t know the history of Dawson’s recruitment - if Wojo actually took the lead, which rarely has been the case. We’ve been told Wojo is the “closer.”  Yet I suspect Stan has a strong relationship with Dawson too.

All moot, ultimately, because MU isn’t going to fire Wojo. Hopefully he finds another gig and leaves in his own.

My post was a joke and I have no problem with Scholl. He was very smart to only give Wojo a modest extension last year so that Wojo could recruit with credibility but also MU can cut ties if it needs to without major costs. I'd say he earned that award.
