I haven't watched much basketball outside of the Marquette games this year.  Just saw a replay of the Duke - Syracuse game from yesterday.  Syracuse is among the 5 best teams in the ACC this year so far.  Least athletic and least talented Syracuse team I've witnessed since I first saw the Louie and Bouie Show in the late 70's.  I was stunned.

The Big Ten and Big East are so much more talented and physical from what I saw in that game.

ACC is way down this year.

3 teams are locks for the tourney and then nothing close to guranteed. They will probably end up getting 5 in.

Big12 is very similar. 3 of their 10 teams are really strong. 2 more are on the bubble. The other 5 are either completely dead in the water or have lots of work to do.

Pac-12 and SEC are what they typically are

If you look at and trust Pomeroy like I do, MU is the 11th best team in the B1G and the fifth best in the B12. MU won yesterday, and despite the three Big East teams ahead of them losing at home, they moved down in KPom as they didn’t beat DU by more than 8.

I watched the Zags play the Dons yesterday. They don’t look like a 1 seed to me.

Parity is crazy this year. If MU gets healthy and gets hot late in the season, they can make a run in the BET and NCAAs, or they can crap out again. I will say, Cuse has a good offense this season.

Gonzaga has had injuries out the ass. If they are healthy, they are really legit in this year of parity.

Its a relatively big IF tho. Tillie is more injury prone than Greg.

The ACC being so down this year is really baffling to me. There is just so much junk in that conference outside the top few teams. I'd say all 10 Big East teams would have a really great shot at finishing in the top 5 this year. Hope the selection committee takes an objective view when picking the teams, because I'd honestly give Depaul a lot of consideration over either Virginia and Syracuse this year.

Which is why it’s kind of a joke a lot of brackets only have 5 BE teams in. There is a clear delineation after the top 5, but this should be a 6 or 7 bid league. Yesterday was a big day in that regard.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Agreed. If X takes care of business this week they should find themselves back in as of next week.

The issue for the league is that Providence and DePaul decided to swap places. Woulda been nice if Providence had a good non con or DePaul wasnt 1-8 in league play.

Not sure I’d benchmark how a team looks athletically/talent-wise when facing Duke.

Cuse is more “traditional” this season than historically, yet Duke generally will have the three to four most athletic guys on the floor.

ACC down for sure, yet too of ACC is better than Big East. I suspect Big East may get two teams to Sweet 16, but likely won’t have any advance beyond round of 16.

For what it's worth, I think a 6-12 DePaul makes the tournament.  They would have at least 7 or 8 Q1 wins, probably 4-0 in Q2, and only one bad loss.  If they can get to the top 50 of NET (59 right now) they've got a chance.

This.  Especially Providence, who layed an egg in non-conference.  7-6 with some brutal losses; 1 Q4 & 3 Q3.

Xavier and Georgetown both a have a chance but they need to get hot and go on a run.

The NET rankings would have MU in 6th, and barely out of 4th

Great for you. I choose to track the one, who at this point of the season, uses current results to predict the future versus one that is backward looking and black boxy, and had Liberty as a top team in its early releases. Around the first of March, I will start to pay more attention to the NET.

Back to the thread topic, how about that parity in CBB?
