Yes I saw. It was a very weak attempt at humor, which makes me all the more concerned. If Drew were really on the mend, he would have made a much more inappropriate  (and funny) joke.

Eh, been following the mentions on Twitter for a week now, and some pretty wild stuff out there.  The fact the other staffers at Deadspin, including the editor Megan Greenwell who wrote the original post, welcomed his return, gives me a bit more confidence that he is better, but agree no doubt it was super serious, and probably not out of the woods yet.

They have become a collection of sanctimonious naysayers.  Its a shame.  The site used to be hilarious, now its absurd.

Idk, he used to be my fav internet writer, but he lost much of his humor in his attempts to become a politically fueled commentator. Very much in the mold of Deadspin in general.  He was losing his fastball and then his arm gave out a few Novembers back.

As for the recent incident, I very much hope its not serious, but it feels awfully like a DUI incident they are downplaying.  If it truly was just a car accident, or if he just fell asleep at the wheel, they wouldn't be so evasive about it.

He had a DUI years back, wrote about it in his parenting book, mentioned about the seriousness of it on his podcast a few times and repeatedly talked about how it nearly destroyed his entire life, so I doubt it's that.

I think falling asleep behind the wheel and getting serious hurtor bad weed, or accidental overdose could also be options.

Deadspin was great, but blew up in orbit. Hardly even readable, and the comments used to be gold. Now just trash, trash, trash. I remember when I first was gilded to comment on Deadspin, it was a big deal then.

Apparently he had a brain hemorrhage, fell, cracked his skull, and now is deaf in one ear.
